But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.Acts 5:22But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told,Acts 5:23Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.Acts 5:24Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.Acts 5:25Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.Acts 5:26Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.Acts 5:27And when they had brought them, they set [them] before the council: and the high priest asked them,Acts 5:28Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.Acts 5:29Then Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.Acts 5:30The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.Acts 5:31Him hath God exalted with his right hand [to be] a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.Acts 5:32And we are his witnesses of these things; and [so is] also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.Acts 5:33When they heard [that], they were cut [to the heart], and took counsel to slay them.Acts 5:34Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;Acts 5:35And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.Acts 5:36For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.Acts 5:37After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, [even] as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.Acts 5:38And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:Acts 5:39But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.Acts 5:40And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten [them], they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.Acts 5:41And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.Acts 5:42And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.Acts 8:14Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:Acts 8:15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:Acts 8:16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Acts 8:17Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.Acts 8:18And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,Acts 8:19Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.Acts 8:20But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.Acts 8:21Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.Acts 8:22Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.Acts 8:23For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and [in] the bond of iniquity.Acts 8:24Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.Acts 8:25And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.Acts 9:32And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all [quarters], he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.Acts 9:33And there he found a certain man named AEneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.Acts 9:34And Peter said unto him, AEneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.Acts 9:36Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.Acts 9:37And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid [her] in an upper chamber.Acts 9:38And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring [him] that he would not delay to come to them.Acts 9:39Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.Acts 9:40But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning [him] to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.Acts 9:41And he gave her [his] hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.Acts 9:42And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.Acts 9:43And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.Acts 10:9On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
