Daniel 5:13So Daniel was brought before the king, who asked him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah?Daniel 5:14I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you, and that you have insight, intelligence, and extraordinary wisdom.Daniel 5:15Now the wise men and enchanters were brought before me to read this inscription and interpret it for me, but they could not give its interpretation.Daniel 5:16But I have heard about you, that you are able to give interpretations and solve difficult problems. Therefore, if you can read this inscription and give me its interpretation, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”Daniel 5:17In response, Daniel said to the king, “You may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the inscription for the king and interpret it for him.Daniel 5:18As for you, O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar sovereignty and greatness, glory and honor.Daniel 5:19Because of the greatness that He bestowed on him, the people of every nation and language trembled in fear before him. He killed whom he wished and kept alive whom he wished; he exalted whom he wished and humbled whom he wished.Daniel 5:20But when his heart became arrogant and his spirit was hardened with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne, and his glory was taken from him.Daniel 5:21He was driven away from mankind, and his mind was like that of a beast. He lived with the wild donkeys and ate grass like an ox, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven until he acknowledged that the Most High God rules over the kingdom of mankind, setting over it whom He wishes.Daniel 5:22But you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, even though you knew all this.Daniel 5:23Instead, you have exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven. The vessels from His house were brought to you, and as you drank wine from them with your nobles, wives, and concubines, you praised your gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you have failed to glorify the God who holds in His hand your very breath and all your ways.Daniel 5:24Therefore He sent the hand that wrote the inscription.Daniel 5:25Now this is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN.Daniel 5:26And this is the interpretation of the message: MENE means that God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.Daniel 5:27TEKEL means that you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient.Daniel 5:28PERES means that your kingdom has been divided and given over to the Medes and Persians.”Daniel 5:29Then Belshazzar gave the command, and they clothed Daniel in purple, placed a gold chain around his neck, and proclaimed him the third highest ruler in the kingdom.Daniel 12:2And many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, but others to shame and everlasting contempt.Hosea 2:9Therefore I will take back My grain in its time and My new wine in its season; I will take away My wool and linen, which were given to cover her nakedness.Hosea 2:10And then I will expose her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one will deliver her out of My hands.Hosea 2:11I will put an end to all her exultation: her feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths—all her appointed feasts.Hosea 2:12I will destroy her vines and fig trees, which she thinks are the wages paid by her lovers. But Me she forgot,” declares the LORD.Hosea 4:8They feed on the sins of My people and set their hearts on iniquity.Hosea 4:17Ephraim is joined to idols; leave him alone!Hosea 4:18When their liquor is gone, they turn to prostitution; their rulers dearly love disgrace.Hosea 4:19The whirlwind has wrapped them in its wings, and their sacrifices will bring them shame.Hosea 5:4Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God, for a spirit of prostitution is within them, and they do not know the LORD.Hosea 5:5Israel’s arrogance testifies against them; Israel and Ephraim stumble in their iniquity; even Judah stumbles with them.Hosea 5:6They go with their flocks and herds to seek the LORD, but they do not find Him; He has withdrawn Himself from them.Hosea 5:9Ephraim will be laid waste on the day of rebuke. Among the tribes of Israel I proclaim what is certain.Hosea 7:3They delight the king with their evil, and the princes with their lies.Hosea 7:4They are all adulterers, like an oven heated by a baker who needs not stoke the fire from the kneading to the rising of the dough.Hosea 7:9Foreigners consume his strength, but he does not notice. Even his hair is streaked with gray, but he does not know.Hosea 7:12As they go, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like birds of the air. I will chastise them when I hear them flocking together.Hosea 7:13Woe to them, for they have strayed from Me! Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against Me! Though I would redeem them, they speak lies against Me.Hosea 9:7The days of punishment have come; the days of retribution have arrived—let Israel know it. The prophet is called a fool, and the inspired man insane, because of the greatness of your iniquity and hostility.Hosea 9:9They have deeply corrupted themselves as in the days of Gibeah; He will remember their guilt; He will punish their sins.Hosea 9:10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the firstfruits of the fig tree in its first season. But they went to Baal-peor, and consecrated themselves to Shame; so they became as detestable as the thing they loved.Hosea 9:15All their evil appears at Gilgal, for there I hated them. I will drive them from My house for the wickedness of their deeds. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious.Hosea 10:8The high places of Aven will be destroyed—it is the sin of Israel; thorns and thistles will overgrow their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, “Cover us!” and to the hills, “Fall on us!”Hosea 12:2The LORD has a charge to bring against Judah. He will punish Jacob according to his ways and repay him according to his deeds.Hosea 12:14Ephraim has provoked bitter anger, so his Lord will leave his bloodguilt upon him and repay him for his contempt.Hosea 13:1When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling; he was exalted in Israel. But he incurred guilt through Baal, and he died.Hosea 13:3Therefore they will be like the morning mist, like the early dew that vanishes, like chaff blown from a threshing floor, like smoke through an open window.Hosea 13:12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is stored up.Hosea 14:9Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them. None of those who flee will get away; none of the fugitives will escape.Amos 9:2Though they dig down to Sheol, from there My hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, from there I will pull them down.Amos 9:3Though they hide themselves atop Carmel, there I will track them and seize them; and though they hide from Me at the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent to bite them.Amos 9:4Though they are driven by their enemies into captivity, there I will command the sword to slay them. I will fix My eyes upon them for harm and not for good.”Amos 9:5The Lord GOD of Hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, and all its dwellers mourn—all the land rises like the Nile, then sinks like the river of Egypt—Amos 9:10All the sinners among My people will die by the sword—all those who say, ‘Disaster will never draw near or confront us.’”Jonah 3:9Who knows? God may turn and relent; He may turn from His fierce anger, so that we will not perish.”
