1 Samuel 2:7The LORD sends poverty and wealth; He humbles and He exalts.1 Samuel 3:15Samuel lay down until the morning; then he opened the doors of the house of the LORD. He was afraid to tell Eli the vision,1 Samuel 3:16but Eli called to him and said, “Samuel, my son.” “Here I am,” answered Samuel.1 Samuel 3:17“What was the message He gave you?” Eli asked. “Do not hide it from me. May God punish you, and ever so severely, if you hide from me anything He said to you.”1 Samuel 3:18So Samuel told him everything and did not hide a thing from him. “He is the LORD,” replied Eli. “Let Him do what is good in His eyes.”1 Samuel 12:9But they forgot the LORD their God, and He sold them into the hand of Sisera the commander of the army of Hazor, and into the hands of the Philistines and the king of Moab, who fought against them.1 Samuel 12:10Then they cried out to the LORD and said, ‘We have sinned, for we have forsaken the LORD and served the Baals and Ashtoreths. May You send rain on the land that You gave Your people as an inheritance.1 Kings 8:37When famine or plague comes upon the land, or blight or mildew or locusts or grasshoppers, or when their enemy besieges them in their cities, whatever plague or sickness may come,1 Kings 8:38then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—1 Kings 8:39be heard by You from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You forgive and act, and repay each man according to all his ways, since You know his heart—for You alone know the hearts of all men—1 Kings 8:40so that they may fear You all the days they live in the land that You gave to our fathers.1 Kings 8:41And as for the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of Your name—1 Kings 8:42for they will hear of Your great name and mighty hand and outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple,1 Kings 8:43then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.1 Kings 8:44When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the LORD in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,1 Kings 8:45then may You hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and may You uphold their cause.1 Kings 8:46When they sin against You—for there is no one who does not sin—and You become angry with them and deliver them to an enemy who takes them as captives to his own land, whether far or near,1 Kings 8:47and when they come to their senses in the land to which they were taken, and they repent and plead with You in the land of their captors, saying, ‘We have sinned and done wrong; we have acted wickedly,’1 Kings 8:48and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them captive, and when they pray to You in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name,1 Kings 8:49then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, their prayer and petition, and may You uphold their cause.1 Kings 8:50May You forgive Your people who have sinned against You and all the transgressions they have committed against You, and may You grant them compassion in the eyes of their captors to show them mercy.1 Kings 8:51For they are Your people and Your inheritance; You brought them out of Egypt, out of the furnace for iron.1 Kings 8:52May Your eyes be open to the pleas of Your servant and of Your people Israel, and may You listen to them whenever they call to You.1 Kings 8:53For You, O Lord GOD, have set them apart from all the peoples of the earth as Your inheritance, as You spoke through Your servant Moses when You brought our fathers out of Egypt.”1 Kings 13:1Suddenly, as Jeroboam was standing beside the altar to burn incense, there came a man of God from Judah to Bethel by the word of the LORD.1 Kings 13:2And he cried out against the altar by the word of the LORD, “O altar, O altar, this is what the LORD says: ‘A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David, and upon you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense upon you, and human bones will be burned upon you.’”1 Kings 13:3That day the man of God gave a sign, saying, “The LORD has spoken this sign: ‘Surely the altar will be split apart, and the ashes upon it will be poured out.’”1 Kings 13:4Now when King Jeroboam, who was at the altar in Bethel, heard the word that the man of God had cried out against it, he stretched out his hand and said, “Seize him!” But the hand he stretched out toward him withered, so that he could not pull it back.1 Kings 13:5And the altar was split apart, and the ashes poured out, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.1 Kings 13:6Then the king responded to the man of God, “Intercede with the LORD your God and pray for me that my hand may be restored.” So the man of God interceded with the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored to him as it was before.1 Kings 13:7Then the king said to the man of God, “Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.”1 Kings 13:8But the man of God replied, “If you were to give me half your possessions, I still would not go with you, nor would I eat bread or drink water in this place.1 Kings 13:9For this is what I was commanded by the word of the LORD: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.’”1 Kings 13:10So the man of God went another way and did not return by the way he had come to Bethel.1 Kings 21:27When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and fasted. You will surely die.’” So Elijah departed.2 Kings 4:18And the child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the harvesters.2 Kings 4:19“My head! My head!” he complained to his father. So his father told a servant, “Carry him to his mother.”2 Kings 4:20After the servant had picked him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon, and then he died.2 Kings 4:21And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God. Then she shut the door and went out.
