When he came to Jahaz, he fought against Israel.Numbers 21:24And Israel put him to the sword and took possession of his land, from the Arnon to the Jabbok—but only up to the border of the Ammonites, because it was fortified.Numbers 21:25Israel captured all the cities of the Amorites and occupied them, including Heshbon and all its villages.Numbers 21:26Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and taken all his land as far as the Arnon.Numbers 21:27That is why the poets say: “Come to Heshbon, let it be rebuilt; let the city of Sihon be restored.Numbers 21:28For a fire went out from Heshbon, a blaze from the city of Sihon. It consumed Ar of Moab, the rulers of Arnon’s heights.Numbers 21:29Woe to you, O Moab! You are destroyed, O people of Chemosh! Now begin to conquer and possess his land.”Deuteronomy 2:32So Sihon and his whole army came out for battle against us at Jahaz.Deuteronomy 2:33And the LORD our God delivered him over to us, and we defeated him and his sons and his whole army.Deuteronomy 2:34At that time we captured all his cities and devoted to destruction the people of every city, including women and children. We left no survivors.Deuteronomy 2:35We carried off for ourselves only the livestock and the plunder from the cities we captured.Deuteronomy 2:36From Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Valley, along with the city in the valley, even as far as Gilead, not one city had walls too high for us. They camped before Gibeon and made war against it.Joshua 10:6Then the men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: “Do not abandon your servants. Come quickly and save us! Help us, because all the kings of the Amorites from the hill country have joined forces against us.”Joshua 10:7So Joshua and his whole army, including all the mighty men of valor, came from Gilgal.Joshua 10:8The LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for I have delivered them into your hand. Not one of them shall stand against you.”
