I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.1 Kings 9:4As for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances;1 Kings 9:5then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, according as I promised to David your father, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man on the throne of Israel.’1 Kings 9:6But if you turn away from following me, you or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;1 Kings 9:7then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.1 Kings 9:8Though this house is so high, yet shall everyone who passes by it be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, ‘Why has Yahweh done thus to this land, and to this house?’1 Kings 9:9and they shall answer, ‘Because they forsook Yahweh their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold of other gods, and worshiped them, and served them. Therefore Yahweh has brought all this evil on them.’”1 Kings 17:2The word of Yahweh came to him, saying,1 Kings 17:3“Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.1 Kings 17:4It shall be, that you shall drink of the brook. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”1 Kings 17:5So he went and did according to the word of Yahweh; for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.1 Kings 17:6The ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.1 Kings 17:7It happened after a while, that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.1 Kings 17:12She said, “As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”1 Kings 17:13Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for you and for your son.1 Kings 17:14For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of meal shall not empty, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.’”1 Kings 17:15She went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, ate many days.1 Kings 17:16The jar of meal didn’t empty, neither did the jar of oil fail, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke by Elijah.1 Kings 17:20He cried to Yahweh, and said, “Yahweh my God, have you also brought evil on the widow with whom I stay, by killing her son?”1 Kings 17:21He stretched himself on the child three times, and cried to Yahweh, and said, “Yahweh my God, please let this child’s soul come into him again.”1 Kings 18:42So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down on the earth, and put his face between his knees.1 Kings 18:44It happened at the seventh time, that he said, “Behold, a small cloud, like a man’s hand, is rising out of the sea.” He said, “Go up, tell Ahab, ‘Get ready and go down, so that the rain doesn’t stop you.’”1 Kings 19:5He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat!”1 Kings 19:6He looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on the coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again.1 Kings 19:7The angel of Yahweh came again the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.”1 Kings 19:8He arose, and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the Mount of God.2 Kings 18:6For he joined with Yahweh; he didn’t depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which Yahweh commanded Moses.
