Matthew 4:13Leaving Nazareth, He went and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,Matthew 9:1Jesus got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own town.Matthew 9:2Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven.”Matthew 9:3On seeing this, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming!”Matthew 9:4But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said, “Why do you harbor evil in your hearts?Matthew 9:5Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?Matthew 9:6But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...” Then He said to the paralytic, “Get up, pick up your mat, and go home.”Matthew 9:7And the man got up and went home.Matthew 9:8When the crowds saw this, they were filled with awe and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.Matthew 9:9As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax booth. “Follow Me,” He told him, and Matthew got up and followed Him.Matthew 9:10Later, as Jesus was dining at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with Him and His disciples.Matthew 9:11When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”Matthew 9:12On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.Matthew 9:13But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”Matthew 9:14Then John’s disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast so often, but Your disciples do not fast?”Matthew 9:15Jesus replied, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while He is with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.Matthew 9:16No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. For the patch will pull away from the garment, and a worse tear will result.Matthew 9:17Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will spill, and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”Matthew 9:18While Jesus was saying these things, a synagogue leader came and knelt before Him. “My daughter has just died,” he said. “But come and place Your hand on her, and she will live.”Matthew 9:19So Jesus got up and went with him, along with His disciples.Matthew 9:20Suddenly a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak.Matthew 9:21She said to herself, “If only I touch His cloak, I will be healed.”Matthew 9:22Jesus turned and saw her. “Take courage, daughter,” He said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed from that very hour.Matthew 9:23When Jesus entered the house of the synagogue leader, He saw the flute players and the noisy crowd.Matthew 9:24“Go away,” He told them. “The girl is not dead, but asleep.” And they laughed at Him.Matthew 9:25After the crowd had been put outside, Jesus went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.Matthew 9:26And the news about this spread throughout that region.Matthew 11:23And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.Matthew 17:24After they had arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, “Does your Teacher pay the two drachmas?”Mark 1:21Then Jesus and His companions went to Capernaum, and right away Jesus entered the synagogue on the Sabbath and began to teach.Mark 1:22The people were astonished at His teaching, because He taught as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.Mark 1:23Suddenly a man with an unclean spirit cried out in the synagogue:Mark 1:24“What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”Mark 1:25But Jesus rebuked the spirit. “Be silent!” He said. “Come out of him!”Mark 1:26At this, the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and came out with a loud shriek.Mark 1:27All the people were amazed and began to ask one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him!”Mark 1:28And the news about Jesus spread quickly through the whole region of Galilee.Mark 1:29As soon as Jesus and His companions had left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.Mark 1:30Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a fever, and they promptly told Jesus about her.Mark 1:31So He went to her, took her by the hand, and helped her up. The fever left her, and she began to serve them.Mark 1:32That evening, after sunset, people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed,Mark 1:33and the whole town gathered at the door.Mark 1:34And He healed many who were ill with various diseases and drove out many demons. But He would not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.Mark 1:35Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and went out to a solitary place to pray.Mark 1:36Simon and his companions went to look for Him,Mark 1:37and when they found Him, they said, “Everyone is looking for You!”Mark 1:38But Jesus answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns so I can preach there as well, for that is why I have come.”Mark 1:39So He went throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.Mark 1:40Then a leper came to Jesus, begging on his knees: “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”Mark 1:41Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!”Mark 1:42And immediately the leprosy left him, and the man was cleansed.Mark 1:43Jesus promptly sent him away with a stern warning:Mark 1:44“See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”Mark 1:45But the man went out and openly began to proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet people came to Him from every quarter.Mark 3:1Once again Jesus entered the synagogue, and a man with a withered hand was there.Mark 3:2In order to accuse Jesus, they were watching to see if He would heal on the Sabbath.Mark 3:3Then Jesus said to the man with the withered hand, “Stand up among us.”Mark 3:4And He asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?” But they were silent.Mark 3:5Jesus looked around at them with anger and sorrow at their hardness of heart. Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and it was restored.Mark 3:6At this, the Pharisees went out and began plotting with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.
