Increase abundantly in the earth, and multiply in it.”Genesis 9:8God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,Genesis 9:9“As for me, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your offspring after you,Genesis 9:10and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the livestock, and every animal of the earth with you, of all that go out of the ship, even every animal of the earth.Genesis 9:11I will establish my covenant with you: all flesh will not be cut off any more by the waters of the flood, neither will there ever again be a flood to destroy the earth.”Genesis 9:12God said, “This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:Genesis 9:13I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it will be for a sign of a covenant between me and the earth.Genesis 9:14It will happen, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud,Genesis 9:15and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.Genesis 9:16The rainbow will be in the cloud. Walk before me, and be blameless.Genesis 17:2I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”Genesis 17:3Abram fell on his face. God talked with him, saying,Genesis 17:4“As for me, behold, my covenant is with you. You will be the father of a multitude of nations.Genesis 17:5Neither will your name any more be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham; for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.Genesis 17:6I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you. Kings will come out of you.Genesis 17:7I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your seed after you.Genesis 17:8I will give to you, and to your seed after you, the land where you are traveling, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. I will be their God.”Genesis 17:9God said to Abraham, “As for you, you will keep my covenant, you and your seed after you throughout their generations.Genesis 17:10This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your seed after you. Every male among you shall be circumcised.Genesis 17:11You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin. It will be a token of the covenant between me and you.Genesis 17:12He who is eight days old will be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he who is born in the house, or bought with money from any foreigner who is not of your seed.Genesis 17:13He who is born in your house, and he who is bought with your money, must be circumcised. My covenant will be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.Genesis 17:14The uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people. He has broken my covenant.”Genesis 17:15God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but her name will be Sarah.Genesis 17:16I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her. Yes, I will bless her, and she will be a mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her.”Genesis 17:17Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?”Genesis 17:18Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before you!”Genesis 17:19God said, “No, but Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.Genesis 17:20As for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He will become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.Genesis 17:21But my covenant I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time next year.”Genesis 17:22When he finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham.Genesis 21:22It happened at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his army spoke to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in all that you do.Genesis 21:23Now, therefore, swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son. But according to the kindness that I have done to you, you shall do to me, and to the land in which you have lived as a foreigner.”Genesis 21:24Abraham said, “I will swear.”
