Genesis 14:1It happened in the days of Amraphel, king of Shinar, Arioch, king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, and Tidal, king of Goiim,Genesis 41:25Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dream of Pharaoh is one. What God is about to do he has declared to Pharaoh.Genesis 41:26The seven good cattle are seven years; and the seven good heads of grain are seven years. The dream is one.Genesis 41:27The seven thin and ugly cattle that came up after them are seven years, and also the seven empty heads of grain blasted with the east wind; they will be seven years of famine.Genesis 41:28That is the thing which I spoke to Pharaoh. What God is about to do he has shown to Pharaoh.Genesis 41:29Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt.Genesis 41:30There will arise after them seven years of famine, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will consume the land,Genesis 41:31and the plenty will not be known in the land by reason of that famine which follows; for it will be very grievous.Genesis 41:32The dream was doubled to Pharaoh, because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.Genesis 41:33“Now therefore let Pharaoh look for a discreet and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt.Genesis 41:34Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint overseers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt’s produce in the seven plenteous years.Genesis 41:35Let them gather all the food of these good years that come, and lay up grain under the hand of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and let them keep it.Genesis 41:36The food will be for a store to the land against the seven years of famine, which will be in the land of Egypt; that the land not perish through the famine.”Genesis 41:37The thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.Genesis 41:38Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”Genesis 41:39Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has shown you all of this, there is none so discreet and wise as you.Genesis 41:40You shall be over my house, and according to your word will all my people be ruled. Only in the throne I will be greater than you.”Genesis 41:41Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Behold, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”Genesis 41:42Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck,Genesis 41:43and he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had. They cried before him, “Bow the knee!” He set him over all the land of Egypt.Genesis 41:44Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without you shall no man lift up his hand or his foot in all the land of Egypt.”Genesis 41:45Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphenath-Paneah; and he gave him Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On as a wife. Joseph went out over the land of Egypt.Genesis 41:46Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.Genesis 41:47In the seven plenteous years the earth produced abundantly.Genesis 41:48He gathered up all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was around every city, he laid up in the same.Genesis 41:49Joseph laid up grain as the sand of the sea, very much, until he stopped counting, for it was without number.Genesis 41:50To Joseph were born two sons before the year of famine came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, bore to him.Genesis 41:51Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh, “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.”Genesis 41:52The name of the second, he called Ephraim: “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.”Genesis 41:53The seven years of plenty, that were in the land of Egypt, came to an end.Genesis 41:54The seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said. What he says to you, do.”Genesis 41:56The famine was over all the surface of the earth. Joseph opened all the store houses, and sold to the Egyptians. You shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.Exodus 18:12Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God. Aaron came with all of the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses’ father-in-law before God.Exodus 18:13It happened on the next day, that Moses sat to judge the people, and the people stood around Moses from the morning to the evening.Exodus 18:14When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he did to the people, he said, “What is this thing that you do for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning to evening?”Exodus 18:15Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God.Exodus 18:16When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between a man and his neighbor, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.”Exodus 18:17Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “The thing that you do is not good.Exodus 18:18You will surely wear away, both you, and this people that is with you; for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to perform it yourself alone.Exodus 18:19Listen now to my voice. I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You represent the people before God, and bring the causes to God.Exodus 18:20You shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and shall show them the way in which they must walk, and the work that they must do.Exodus 18:21Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God: men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.Exodus 18:22Let them judge the people at all times. It shall be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they shall judge themselves. So shall it be easier for you, and they shall share the load with you.Exodus 18:23If you will do this thing, and God commands you so, then you will be able to endure, and all of these people also will go to their place in peace.”Exodus 18:24So Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said.
