Mark 14:57Then some men stood up and testified falsely against Him:Mark 14:58“We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this man-made temple, and in three days I will build another that is made without hands.’”Mark 14:59But even their testimony was inconsistent.Mark 14:60So the high priest stood up before them and questioned Jesus, “Have You no answer? They led Jesus into their Sanhedrin and said,Luke 22:67“If You are the Christ, tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe.Luke 22:68And if I ask you a question, you will not answer.Luke 22:69But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”Luke 22:70So they all asked, “Are You then the Son of God?” He replied, “You say that I am.”Luke 22:71“Why do we need any more testimony?” they declared. “We have heard it for ourselves from His own lips.”John 19:10So Pilate said to Him, “Do You refuse to speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You and authority to crucify You?”John 19:11Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed Me over to you is guilty of greater sin.”John 19:12From then on, Pilate tried to release Him, but the Jews kept shouting, “If you release this man, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who declares himself a king is defying Caesar.”John 19:13When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat on the judgment seat at a place called the Stone Pavement, which in Hebrew is Gabbatha.John 19:14It was the day of Preparation for the Passover, about the sixth hour. And Pilate said to the Jews, “Here is your King!”John 19:15At this, they shouted, “Away with Him! Away with Him! Crucify Him!” “Shall I crucify your King?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” replied the chief priests.John 19:16Then Pilate handed Jesus over to be crucified, and the soldiers took Him away.Acts 4:1While Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,Acts 4:2greatly disturbed that they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.Acts 4:3They seized Peter and John, and because it was evening, they put them in custody until the next day.Acts 4:4But many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand.Acts 4:5The next day the rulers, elders, and scribes assembled in Jerusalem,Acts 4:6along with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and many others from the high priest’s family.Acts 4:7They had Peter and John brought in and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?”Acts 4:8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people!Acts 4:9If we are being examined today about a kind service to a man who was lame, to determine how he was healed,Acts 4:10then let this be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.Acts 4:11This Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’Acts 4:12Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”Acts 4:13When they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they marveled and took note that these men had been with Jesus.Acts 4:14And seeing the man who had been healed standing there with them, they had nothing to say in response.Acts 4:15So they ordered them to leave the Sanhedrin and then conferred together.Acts 4:16“What shall we do with these men?” they asked. “It is clear to everyone living in Jerusalem that a remarkable miracle has occurred through them, and we cannot deny it.Acts 4:17But to keep this message from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them not to speak to anyone in this name.”Acts 4:18Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.Acts 4:19But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to listen to you rather than God.Acts 4:20For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
