Numbers 27:18And the LORD replied to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man with the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him.Numbers 27:19Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation, and commission him in their sight.Numbers 27:20Confer on him some of your authority, so that the whole congregation of Israel will obey him.Numbers 27:21He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who will seek counsel for him before the LORD by the judgment of the Urim. At his command, he and all the Israelites with him—the entire congregation—will go out and come in.”Numbers 27:22Moses did as the LORD had commanded him. Then the assembly will return him to the city of refuge to which he fled, and he must live there until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.Numbers 36:1Now the family heads of the clan of Gilead son of Machir son of Manasseh, one of the clans of Joseph, approached Moses and the leaders who were the heads of the Israelite families and addressed them,Deuteronomy 1:9At that time I said to you, “I cannot carry the burden for you alone.Deuteronomy 1:10The LORD your God has multiplied you, so that today you are as numerous as the stars in the sky.Deuteronomy 1:11May the LORD, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand times over and bless you as He has promised.Deuteronomy 1:12But how can I bear your troubles, burdens, and disputes all by myself?Deuteronomy 1:13Choose for yourselves wise, understanding, and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will appoint them as your leaders.”Deuteronomy 1:14And you answered me and said, “What you propose to do is good.”Deuteronomy 1:15So I took the leaders of your tribes, wise and respected men, and appointed them as leaders over you—as commanders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens, and as officers for your tribes.Deuteronomy 1:16At that time I charged your judges: “Hear the disputes between your brothers, and judge fairly between a man and his brother or a foreign resident.Deuteronomy 1:17Show no partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be intimidated by anyone, for judgment belongs to God. And bring to me any case too difficult for you, and I will hear it.”Deuteronomy 5:23And when you heard the voice out of the darkness while the mountain was blazing with fire, all the heads of your tribes and your elders approached me,Deuteronomy 19:12the elders of his city must send for him, bring him back, and hand him over to the avenger of blood to die.Deuteronomy 21:2your elders and judges must come out and measure the distance from the victim to the neighboring cities.Deuteronomy 21:3Then the elders of the city nearest the victim shall take a heifer that has never been yoked or used for work,Deuteronomy 21:4bring the heifer to a valley with running water that has not been plowed or sown, and break its neck there by the stream.Deuteronomy 21:5And the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come forward, for the LORD your God has chosen them to serve Him and pronounce blessings in His name and to give a ruling in every dispute and case of assault.Deuteronomy 21:6Then all the elders of the city nearest the victim shall wash their hands by the stream over the heifer whose neck has been broken,Deuteronomy 21:7and they shall declare, “Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it.Deuteronomy 21:8Accept this atonement, O LORD, for Your people Israel whom You have redeemed, and do not hold the shedding of innocent blood against them.” And the bloodshed will be atoned for.Deuteronomy 21:18If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and does not listen to them when disciplined,Deuteronomy 21:19his father and mother are to lay hold of him and bring him to the elders of his city, to the gate of his hometown,Deuteronomy 21:20and say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he does not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”Deuteronomy 21:21Then all the men of his city will stone him to death. So you must purge the evil from among you, and all Israel will hear and be afraid.Deuteronomy 22:13Suppose a man marries a woman, has relations with her, and comes to hate her,Deuteronomy 22:14and he then accuses her of shameful conduct and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman and had relations with her, but I discovered she was not a virgin.”Deuteronomy 22:15Then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring the proof of her virginity to the city elders at the gateDeuteronomy 22:16and say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he has come to hate her.Deuteronomy 22:17And now he has accused her of shameful conduct, saying, ‘I discovered that your daughter was not a virgin.’ But here is the proof of her virginity.” And they shall spread out the cloth before the city elders.Deuteronomy 22:18Then the elders of that city shall take the man and punish him.Deuteronomy 22:19They are also to fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given a virgin of Israel a bad name. And she shall remain his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.Deuteronomy 22:20If, however, this accusation is true, and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found,Deuteronomy 22:21she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house, and there the men of her city will stone her to death. For she has committed an outrage in Israel by being promiscuous in her father’s house. So you must purge the evil from among you.Deuteronomy 25:7But if the man does not want to marry his brother’s widow, she is to go to the elders at the city gate and say, “My husband’s brother refuses to preserve his brother’s name in Israel. He is not willing to perform the duty of a brother-in-law for me.”Deuteronomy 25:8Then the elders of his city shall summon him and speak with him. If he persists and says, “I do not want to marry her,”Deuteronomy 25:9his brother’s widow shall go up to him in the presence of the elders, remove his sandal, spit in his face, and declare, “This is what is done to the man who will not maintain his brother’s line.”Deuteronomy 26:16The LORD your God commands you this day to follow these statutes and ordinances. You must be careful to follow them with all your heart and with all your soul.
