Matthew 9:11When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”Matthew 9:12On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.Matthew 9:13But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”Matthew 9:14Then John’s disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast so often, but Your disciples do not fast?”Matthew 9:15Jesus replied, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while He is with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.Matthew 9:16No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. For the patch will pull away from the garment, and a worse tear will result.Matthew 9:17Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will spill, and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”Matthew 9:18While Jesus was saying these things, a synagogue leader came and knelt before Him. “My daughter has just died,” he said. “But come and place Your hand on her, and she will live.”Matthew 9:19So Jesus got up and went with him, along with His disciples.Matthew 9:20Suddenly a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak.Matthew 9:21She said to herself, “If only I touch His cloak, I will be healed.”Matthew 9:22Jesus turned and saw her. “Take courage, daughter,” He said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed from that very hour.Matthew 9:23When Jesus entered the house of the synagogue leader, He saw the flute players and the noisy crowd.Matthew 9:24“Go away,” He told them. “The girl is not dead, but asleep.” And they laughed at Him.Matthew 9:25After the crowd had been put outside, Jesus went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.Matthew 9:26And the news about this spread throughout that region.Matthew 9:27As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”Matthew 9:28After Jesus had entered the house, the blind men came to Him. “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” He asked. “Yes, Lord,” they answered.Matthew 9:29Then He touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you.”Matthew 9:30And their eyes were opened. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one finds out about this!”Matthew 9:31But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout the land.Matthew 9:32As they were leaving, a demon-possessed man who was mute was brought to Jesus.Matthew 9:33And when the demon had been driven out, the man began to speak. The crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!”Matthew 9:34But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that He drives out demons.”Matthew 9:35Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness.Matthew 9:36When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.Matthew 9:37Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.Matthew 9:38Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.”Matthew 10:2These are the names of the twelve apostles: first Simon, called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John;Matthew 10:3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;Matthew 10:4Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus.Matthew 10:34Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.Matthew 10:35For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.Matthew 10:36A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’Matthew 11:2Meanwhile John heard in prison about the works of Christ, and he sent his disciplesMatthew 11:3to ask Him, “Are You the One who was to come, or should we look for someone else?”Matthew 11:4Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see:Matthew 11:5The blind receive sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.Matthew 11:6Blessed is the one who does not fall away on account of Me.”Matthew 11:7As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swaying in the wind?Matthew 11:8Otherwise, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Look, those who wear fine clothing are found in kings’ palaces.Matthew 11:9What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.Matthew 11:10This is the one about whom it is written: ‘Behold, I will send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way before You.’Matthew 11:11Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.Matthew 11:12From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subject to violence, and the violent lay claim to it.Matthew 11:13For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John.Matthew 11:14And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.Matthew 11:15He who has ears, let him hear.Matthew 11:16To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:Matthew 11:17‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’Matthew 11:18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’Matthew 11:19The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at this glutton and drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is vindicated by her actions.”Matthew 11:20Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.Matthew 11:21“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.Matthew 11:22But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.Matthew 11:23And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.Matthew 11:24But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”Matthew 11:25At that time Jesus declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.Matthew 11:26Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.Matthew 11:27All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.
