Luke 9:33As Moses and Elijah were leaving, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)Luke 9:34While Peter was speaking, a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.Luke 9:35And a voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, whom I have chosen. It was veiled from them so that they could not comprehend it, and they were afraid to ask Him about it.Luke 9:46Then an argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest.Luke 9:47But Jesus, knowing the thoughts of their hearts, had a little child stand beside Him.Luke 9:48And He said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in My name welcomes Me, and whoever welcomes Me welcomes the One who sent Me. For whoever is the least among all of you, he is the greatest.”Luke 9:49“Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not accompany us.”Luke 9:50“Do not stop him,” Jesus replied, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”Luke 9:51As the day of His ascension approached, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.Luke 9:52He sent messengers on ahead, who went into a village of the Samaritans to make arrangements for Him.Luke 9:53But the people there refused to welcome Him, because He was heading for Jerusalem.Luke 9:54When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do You want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?”Luke 9:55But Jesus turned and rebuked them.Luke 9:56And He and His disciples went on to another village.Luke 9:57As they were walking along the road, someone said to Jesus, “I will follow You wherever You go.”Luke 9:58Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”Luke 9:59Then He said to another man, “Follow Me.” The man replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”Luke 9:60But Jesus told him, “Let the dead bury their own dead. You, however, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”Luke 9:61Still another said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first let me bid farewell to my family.”Luke 9:62Then Jesus declared, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and then looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”Luke 10:1After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town and place He was about to visit.Luke 10:2And He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.Luke 10:3Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.Luke 10:4Carry no purse or bag or sandals. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.’Luke 10:12I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.Luke 10:13Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.Luke 10:14But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.Luke 10:15And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades!Luke 10:16Whoever listens to you listens to Me; whoever rejects you rejects Me; and whoever rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”Luke 10:17The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name.”Luke 10:18So He told them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.Luke 10:19Behold, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you.Luke 10:20Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”Luke 10:21At that time Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.Luke 10:22All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”Luke 10:23Then Jesus turned to the disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.Luke 10:24For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”Luke 10:25One day an expert in the law stood up to test Him. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”Luke 10:26“What is written in the Law?” Jesus replied. “How do you read it?”Luke 10:27He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”Luke 10:28“You have answered correctly,” Jesus said. “Do this and you will live.”Luke 10:29But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”Luke 10:30Jesus took up this question and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead.
