John 18:13and led him to Annas first, for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.John 18:14Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should perish for the people.John 18:15Simon Peter followed Jesus, as did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest;John 18:16but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought in Peter.John 18:17Then the maid who kept the door said to Peter, “Are you also one of this man’s disciples?” He said, “I am not.”John 18:18Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold. They were warming themselves. Peter was with them, standing and warming himself.John 18:19The high priest therefore asked Jesus about his disciples, and about his teaching.John 18:20Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret.John 18:21Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them. Behold, these know the things which I said.”John 18:22When he had said this, one of the officers standing by slapped Jesus with his hand, saying, “Do you answer the high priest like that?”John 18:23Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?”John 18:24Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas, the high priest.John 18:25Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, “You aren’t also one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it, and said, “I am not.”John 18:26One of the servants of the high priest, being a relative of him whose ear Peter had cut off, said, “Didn’t I see you in the garden with him?”John 18:27Peter therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed.John 18:28They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I wouldn’t be delivered to the Jews. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood on us.”Acts 5:29But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.Acts 5:30The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed, hanging him on a tree.Acts 5:31God exalted him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.Acts 5:32We are His witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”Acts 5:33But they, when they heard this, were cut to the heart, and determined to kill them.Acts 5:34But one stood up in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, honored by all the people, and commanded to put the apostles out for a little while.Acts 5:35He said to them, “You men of Israel, be careful concerning these men, what you are about to do.Acts 5:36For before these days Theudas rose up, making himself out to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed, and came to nothing.Acts 5:37After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the enrollment, and drew away some people after him. He also perished, and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.Acts 5:38Now I tell you, withdraw from these men, and leave them alone. For if this counsel or this work is of men, it will be overthrown.Acts 5:39But if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow it, and you would be found even to be fighting against God!”Acts 5:40They agreed with him. Summoning the apostles, they beat them and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.Acts 5:41They therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for Jesus’ name.Acts 5:42Every day, in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and preaching Jesus, the Christ.Acts 12:3When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. Guards in front of the door kept the prison.Acts 12:7And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side, and woke him up, saying, “Stand up quickly!” His chains fell off from his hands.Acts 12:8The angel said to him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” He did so. He said to him, “Put on your cloak, and follow me.”
