1 Samuel 15:35And to the day of his death, Samuel never again visited Saul. Samuel mourned for Saul, and the LORD regretted that He had made Saul king over Israel.1 Samuel 22:7Then Saul said to his servants, “Listen, men of Benjamin! Is the son of Jesse giving all of you fields and vineyards and making you commanders of thousands or hundreds?1 Samuel 22:8Is that why all of you have conspired against me? Not one of you told me that my own son had made a covenant with the son of Jesse. Not one of you has shown concern for me or revealed to me that my son has stirred up my own servant to lie in wait against me, as is the case today.”1 Samuel 22:9But Doeg the Edomite, who had stationed himself with Saul’s servants, answered: “I saw the son of Jesse come to Ahimelech son of Ahitub at Nob.1 Samuel 22:10Ahimelech inquired of the LORD for him and gave him provisions. He also gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”1 Samuel 22:11Then the king sent messengers to summon Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and his father’s whole family, who were priests at Nob. And all of them came to the king.1 Samuel 22:12“Listen now, son of Ahitub,” said Saul. “Here I am, my lord,” he replied.1 Samuel 22:13And Saul asked him, “Why have you and the son of Jesse conspired against me? You gave him bread and a sword and inquired of God for him so that he could rise up against me to lie in wait, as he is doing today.”1 Samuel 22:14Ahimelech answered the king, “Who among all your servants is as faithful as David, the king’s son-in-law, the captain of your bodyguard and honored in your house?1 Samuel 22:15Was that day the first time I inquired of God for him? Far be it from me! Let not the king accuse your servant or any of my father’s household, for your servant knew nothing of this whole affair—not in part or in whole.”1 Samuel 22:16But the king replied, “You will surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s house!”1 Samuel 22:17Then the king ordered the guards at his side, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because they too sided with David. For they knew he was fleeing, but they did not tell me.” But the king’s servants would not lift a hand to strike the priests of the LORD.1 Samuel 22:18So the king ordered Doeg, “You turn and strike down the priests!” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests himself. On that day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.1 Samuel 22:19He also put to the sword Nob, the city of the priests, with its men and women, children and infants, oxen, donkeys, and sheep.2 Samuel 10:4So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved off half of each man’s beard, cut off their garments at the hips, and sent them away.2 Samuel 23:3The God of Israel spoke; the Rock of Israel said to me, ‘He who rules the people with justice, who rules in the fear of God,2 Samuel 23:4is like the light of the morning at sunrise of a cloudless dawn, the glistening after the rain on the sprouting grass of the earth.’2 Samuel 24:1Again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He stirred up David against them, saying, “Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.”2 Samuel 24:2So the king said to Joab the commander of his army, who was with him, “Go now throughout the tribes of Israel from Dan to Beersheba and register the troops, so that I may know their number.”2 Samuel 24:3But Joab replied to the king, “May the LORD your God multiply the troops a hundred times over, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king want to do such a thing?”2 Samuel 24:4Nevertheless, the king’s word prevailed against Joab and against the commanders of the army. So Joab and the commanders of the army departed from the presence of the king to register the troops of Israel.2 Samuel 24:5They crossed the Jordan and camped near Aroer, south of the town in the middle of the valley, and proceeded toward Gad and Jazer.2 Samuel 24:6Then they went to Gilead and the land of Tahtim-hodshi, and on to Dan-jaan and around to Sidon.2 Samuel 24:7They went toward the fortress of Tyre and all the cities of the Hivites and Canaanites. Finally, they went on to the Negev of Judah, to Beersheba.2 Samuel 24:8At the end of nine months and twenty days, having gone through the whole land, they returned to Jerusalem.2 Samuel 24:9And Joab reported to the king the total number of the troops. In Israel there were 800,000 men of valor who drew the sword, and in Judah there were 500,000.1 Kings 3:16At that time two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.1 Kings 3:17One woman said, “Please, my lord, this woman and I live in the same house, and I gave birth while she was in the house.1 Kings 3:18On the third day after I gave birth, this woman also had a baby. We were alone, with no one in the house but the two of us.1 Kings 3:19During the night this woman’s son died because she rolled over on him.1 Kings 3:20So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I was asleep. She laid him in her bosom and put her dead son at my bosom.1 Kings 3:21The next morning, when I got up to nurse my son, I discovered he was dead. But when I examined him, I realized that he was not the son I had borne.”1 Kings 3:22“No,” said the other woman, “the living one is my son and the dead one is your son.” But the first woman insisted, “No, the dead one is yours and the living one is mine.” So they argued before the king.1 Kings 3:23Then the king replied, “This woman says, ‘My son is alive and yours is dead,’ but that woman says, ‘No, your son is dead and mine is alive.’”1 Kings 3:24The king continued, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought him a sword,1 Kings 3:25and the king declared, “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.”1 Kings 3:26Then the woman whose son was alive spoke to the king because she yearned with compassion for her son. “Please, my lord,” she said, “give her the living baby. Do not kill him!” But the other woman said, “He will be neither mine nor yours. Cut him in two!”1 Kings 3:27Then the king gave his ruling: “Give the living baby to the first woman. By no means should you kill him; she is his mother.”1 Kings 3:28When all Israel heard of the judgment the king had given, they stood in awe of him, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice.1 Kings 4:7Solomon had twelve governors over all Israel to provide food for the king and his household. Each one would arrange provisions for one month of the year,1 Kings 4:8and these were their names: Ben-hur in the hill country of Ephraim;1 Kings 4:9Ben-deker in Makaz, in Shaalbim, in Beth-shemesh, and in Elon-beth-hanan;1 Kings 4:10Ben-hesed in Arubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher belonged to him);1 Kings 4:11Ben-abinadab in Naphath-dor (Taphath, a daughter of Solomon, was his wife);1 Kings 4:12Baana son of Ahilud in Taanach, in Megiddo, and in all of Beth-shean next to Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah and on past Jokmeam;1 Kings 4:13Ben-geber in Ramoth-gilead (the villages of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead belonged to him, as well as the region of Argob in Bashan with its sixty great cities with walls and bronze bars);1 Kings 4:14Ahinadab son of Iddo in Mahanaim;1 Kings 4:15Ahimaaz in Naphtali (he had married Basemath, a daughter of Solomon);1 Kings 4:16Baana son of Hushai in Asher and in Aloth;1 Kings 4:17Jehoshaphat son of Paruah in Issachar;1 Kings 4:18Shimei son of Ela in Benjamin;1 Kings 4:19Geber son of Uri in the land of Gilead, including the territories of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan. There was also one governor in the land of Judah.1 Kings 4:20The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore, and they were eating and drinking and rejoicing.1 Kings 4:21And Solomon reigned over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These kingdoms offered tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.1 Kings 4:22Solomon’s provisions for a single day were thirty cors of fine flour, sixty cors of meal,1 Kings 4:23ten fat oxen, twenty range oxen, and a hundred sheep, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks, and fattened poultry.1 Kings 10:6She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your words and wisdom is true.1 Kings 10:7But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told to me. Your wisdom and prosperity have far exceeded the report I heard.1 Kings 10:8How blessed are your men! How blessed are these servants of yours who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!1 Kings 10:9Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delighted in you to set you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD’s eternal love for Israel, He has made you king to carry out justice and righteousness.”
