2 Kings 21:3For he rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had destroyed, and he raised up altars for Baal. He made an Asherah pole, as King Ahab of Israel had done, and he worshiped and served all the host of heaven.2 Kings 21:4Manasseh also built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, “In Jerusalem I will put My Name.”2 Kings 21:5In both courtyards of the house of the LORD, he built altars to all the host of heaven.2 Kings 21:6He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced sorcery and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did great evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.2 Kings 21:7Manasseh even took the carved Asherah pole he had made and set it up in the temple, of which the LORD had said to David and his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name forever.2 Kings 21:8I will never again cause the feet of the Israelites to wander from the land that I gave to their fathers, if only they are careful to do all I have commanded them—the whole Law that My servant Moses commanded them.”2 Kings 21:9But the people did not listen and Manasseh led them astray, so that they did greater evil than the nations that the LORD had destroyed before the Israelites.2 Kings 21:10And the LORD spoke through His servants the prophets, saying,2 Kings 21:11“Since Manasseh king of Judah has committed all these abominations, acting more wickedly than the Amorites who preceded him, and with his idols has caused Judah to sin,2 Kings 21:12this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I am bringing such calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah that the news will reverberate in the ears of all who hear it.2 Kings 21:13I will stretch out over Jerusalem the measuring line used against Samaria and the plumb line used against the house of Ahab, and I will wipe out Jerusalem as one wipes out a bowl—wiping it and turning it upside down.2 Kings 21:14So I will forsake the remnant of My inheritance and deliver them into the hands of their enemies. And they will become plunder and spoil to all their enemies,2 Kings 21:15because they have done evil in My sight and have provoked Me to anger from the day their fathers came out of Egypt until this day.’”2 Kings 21:16Moreover, Manasseh shed so much innocent blood that he filled Jerusalem from end to end, in addition to the sin that he had caused Judah to commit, doing evil in the sight of the LORD.2 Kings 21:17As for the rest of the acts of Manasseh, along with all his accomplishments and the sin that he committed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?2 Kings 21:19Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem two years. His mother’s name was Meshullemeth daughter of Haruz; she was from Jotbah.2 Kings 21:20And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done.2 Kings 21:21He walked in all the ways of his father, and he served and worshiped the idols his father had served.2 Kings 21:22He abandoned the LORD, the God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the LORD.2 Kings 23:32And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, just as his fathers had done.2 Kings 23:37And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, just as his fathers had done.2 Kings 24:9And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, just as his father had done.2 Kings 24:19And Zedekiah did evil in the sight of the LORD, just as Jehoiakim had done.1 Chronicles 19:2And David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent messengers to console Hanun concerning his father. Have not his servants come to you to explore the land, spy it out, and overthrow it?”1 Chronicles 19:4So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved their beards, cut off their garments at the hips, and sent them away.1 Chronicles 19:5When someone came and told David about his men, he sent messengers to meet them, since the men had been thoroughly humiliated. The king told them, “Stay in Jericho until your beards have grown back, and then return.”1 Chronicles 21:1Then Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel.1 Chronicles 21:2So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops, “Go and count the Israelites from Beersheba to Dan and bring me a report, so that I may know their number.”1 Chronicles 21:3But Joab replied, “May the LORD multiply His troops a hundred times over. My lord the king, are they not all servants of my lord? Why does my lord want to do this? Why should he bring guilt on Israel?”1 Chronicles 21:4Nevertheless, the king’s word prevailed against Joab. So Joab departed and traveled throughout Israel, and then he returned to Jerusalem.1 Chronicles 21:5And Joab reported to David the total number of the troops. In all Israel there were 1,100,000 men who drew the sword, including 470,000 in Judah.1 Chronicles 21:6But Joab did not include Levi and Benjamin in the count, because the king’s command was detestable to him.1 Chronicles 21:7This command was also evil in the sight of God; so He struck Israel.1 Chronicles 27:23David did not count the men aged twenty or under, because the LORD had said that He would make Israel as numerous as the stars of the sky.1 Chronicles 27:24Joab son of Zeruiah began to count the men but did not finish. For because of this census wrath came upon Israel, and the number was not entered in the Book of the Chronicles of King David.2 Chronicles 9:8Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delighted in you to set you on His throne to be king for the LORD your God. Because your God loved Israel enough to establish them forever, He has made you king over them to carry out justice and righteousness.”2 Chronicles 10:1Then Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had gone there to make him king.2 Chronicles 10:2When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard about this, he returned from Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon.2 Chronicles 10:3So they sent for Jeroboam, and he and all Israel came to Rehoboam and said,2 Chronicles 10:4“Your father put a heavy yoke on us. But now you must lighten the burden of your father’s service and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”2 Chronicles 10:5Rehoboam answered, “Come back to me in three days.” So the people departed.2 Chronicles 10:6Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon during his lifetime. “How do you advise me to respond to these people?” he asked.2 Chronicles 10:7They replied, “If you will be kind to these people and please them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants forever.”2 Chronicles 10:8But Rehoboam rejected the advice of the elders; instead, he consulted the young men who had grown up with him and served him.2 Chronicles 10:9He asked them, “What message do you advise that we send back to these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Lighten the yoke your father put on us’?”2 Chronicles 10:10The young men who had grown up with him replied, “This is how you should answer these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you must make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist!2 Chronicles 10:11Whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. Whereas my father scourged you with whips, I will scourge you with scorpions.’”2 Chronicles 10:12After three days, Jeroboam and all the people returned to Rehoboam, since the king had said, “Come back to me on the third day.”2 Chronicles 10:13And the king answered them harshly. King Rehoboam rejected the advice of the elders2 Chronicles 10:14and spoke to them as the young men had advised, saying, “Whereas my father made your yoke heavy, I will add to your yoke. Whereas my father scourged you with whips, I will scourge you with scorpions.”2 Chronicles 10:15So the king did not listen to the people, and indeed this turn of events was from God, in order that the LORD might fulfill the word that He had spoken through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam son of Nebat.2 Chronicles 11:14For the Levites left their pasturelands and their possessions and went to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them as priests of the LORD.2 Chronicles 11:15And Jeroboam appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat demons and calf idols he had made.2 Chronicles 14:2And Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.2 Chronicles 14:3He removed the foreign altars and high places, shattered the sacred pillars, and chopped down the Asherah poles.2 Chronicles 14:4He commanded the people of Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandments.2 Chronicles 14:5He also removed the high places and incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and under him the kingdom was at peace.2 Chronicles 16:10Asa was angry with the seer and became so enraged over this matter that he put the man in prison.
