1 Samuel 2:1At that time Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the LORD; my horn is exalted in the LORD. My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, for I rejoice in Your salvation.1 Samuel 2:2There is no one holy like the LORD. Indeed, there is no one besides You! And there is no Rock like our God.1 Samuel 2:3Do not boast so proudly, or let arrogance come from your mouth, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by Him actions are weighed.1 Samuel 2:4The bows of the mighty are broken, but the feeble are equipped with strength.1 Samuel 2:5The well-fed hire themselves out for food, but the starving hunger no more. You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’Matthew 23:17You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred?Matthew 23:18And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’Matthew 23:19You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes it sacred?Matthew 23:20So then, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.Matthew 23:21And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it.Matthew 23:22And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it.Matthew 23:23Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin. But you have disregarded the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.Matthew 23:24You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.Matthew 23:25Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.Matthew 23:26Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well.Matthew 23:27Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of impurity.Matthew 23:28In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.Matthew 23:29Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous.Matthew 23:30And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’Matthew 23:31So you testify against yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.Matthew 23:32Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your fathers.Matthew 23:33You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape the sentence of hell?Mark 12:13Later, they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to catch Jesus in His words.Mark 12:14“Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are honest and seek favor from no one. Indeed, You are impartial and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay them or not?”Mark 12:15But Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said, “Why are you testing Me? Bring Me a denarius to inspect.”Mark 12:16So they brought it, and He asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they answered.Mark 12:17Then Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” And they marveled at Him.Mark 12:18Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus and questioned Him:Mark 12:19“Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man is to marry his brother’s widow and raise up offspring for him.Mark 12:20Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died, leaving no children.Mark 12:21Then the second one married the widow, but he also died and left no children. And the third did likewise.Mark 12:22In this way, none of the seven left any children. And last of all, the woman died.Mark 12:23In the resurrection, then, whose wife will she be? For all seven were married to her.”Mark 12:24Jesus said to them, “Aren’t you mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?Mark 12:25When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. Instead, they will be like the angels in heaven.Mark 12:26But concerning the dead rising, have you not read about the burning bush in the Book of Moses, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?Mark 12:27He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”Mark 12:28Now one of the scribes had come up and heard their debate. Noticing how well Jesus had answered them, he asked Him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”Mark 12:29Jesus replied, “This is the most important: ‘Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.Mark 12:30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
