Leviticus 21:9If a priest’s daughter defiles herself by prostituting herself, she profanes her father; she must be burned in the fire.Numbers 5:11Then the LORD said to Moses,Numbers 5:12“Speak to the Israelites and tell them that if any man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to himNumbers 5:13by sleeping with another man, and it is concealed from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she was not caught in the act),Numbers 5:14and if a feeling of jealousy comes over her husband and he suspects his wife who has defiled herself—or if a feeling of jealousy comes over him and he suspects her even though she has not defiled herself—Numbers 5:15then he is to bring his wife to the priest. He must also bring for her an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour. He is not to pour oil over it or put frankincense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, an offering of memorial as a reminder of iniquity.Numbers 5:16The priest is to bring the wife forward and have her stand before the LORD.Numbers 5:17Then he is to take some holy water in a clay jar and put some of the dust from the tabernacle floor into the water.Numbers 5:18After the priest has the woman stand before the LORD, he is to let down her hair and place in her hands the grain offering of memorial, which is the grain offering for jealousy. The priest is to hold the bitter water that brings a curse.Numbers 5:19And he is to put the woman under oath and say to her, ‘If no other man has slept with you and you have not gone astray and become defiled while under your husband’s authority, may you be immune to this bitter water that brings a curse.Numbers 5:20But if you have gone astray while under your husband’s authority and have defiled yourself and lain carnally with a man other than your husband’—Numbers 5:21and the priest shall have the woman swear under the oath of the curse—‘then may the LORD make you an attested curse among your people by making your thigh shrivel and your belly swell.Numbers 5:22May this water that brings a curse enter your stomach and cause your belly to swell and your thigh to shrivel.’ Then the woman is to say, ‘Amen, Amen.’Numbers 5:23And the priest shall write these curses on a scroll and wash them off into the bitter water.Numbers 5:24He is to have the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and it will enter her and may cause her bitter suffering.Numbers 5:25The priest shall take from her hand the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the LORD, and bring it to the altar.Numbers 5:26Then the priest is to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial portion and burn it on the altar; after that he is to have the woman drink the water.Numbers 5:27When he has made her drink the water, if she has defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then the water that brings a curse will enter her and cause bitter suffering; her belly will swell, her thigh will shrivel, and she will become accursed among her people.Numbers 5:28But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, she will be unaffected and able to conceive children.Numbers 5:29This is the law of jealousy when a wife goes astray and defiles herself while under her husband’s authority,Deuteronomy 5:18You shall not commit adultery.Deuteronomy 22:13Suppose a man marries a woman, has relations with her, and comes to hate her,Deuteronomy 22:14and he then accuses her of shameful conduct and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman and had relations with her, but I discovered she was not a virgin.”Deuteronomy 22:15Then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring the proof of her virginity to the city elders at the gateDeuteronomy 22:16and say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he has come to hate her.Deuteronomy 22:17And now he has accused her of shameful conduct, saying, ‘I discovered that your daughter was not a virgin.’ But here is the proof of her virginity.” And they shall spread out the cloth before the city elders.Deuteronomy 22:18Then the elders of that city shall take the man and punish him.Deuteronomy 22:19They are also to fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given a virgin of Israel a bad name. And she shall remain his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.Deuteronomy 22:20If, however, this accusation is true, and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found,Deuteronomy 22:21she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house, and there the men of her city will stone her to death. For she has committed an outrage in Israel by being promiscuous in her father’s house. So you must purge the evil from among you.Deuteronomy 22:22If a man is found lying with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.Deuteronomy 22:23If there is a virgin pledged in marriage to a man, and another man encounters her in the city and sleeps with her,Deuteronomy 22:24you must take both of them out to the gate of that city and stone them to death—the young woman because she did not cry out in the city, and the man because he has violated his neighbor’s wife. So you must purge the evil from among you.Deuteronomy 22:25But if the man encounters a betrothed woman in the open country, and he overpowers her and lies with her, only the man who has done this must die.Deuteronomy 22:26Do nothing to the young woman, because she has committed no sin worthy of death.
