The Christian Books Shelf, Early Church Fathers, Spurgeon archive, and classic commentary collection already contain hundreds of historical works, translations, source texts and supporting indexes.

How we handle rights and attribution

We publish only works recorded as public domain in the United States or for which the relevant rights allow redistribution. Copyright depends on the specific edition, translation, introduction, footnotes and country. The original author's death date alone does not grant permission to reuse every modern edition. Existing book pages retain bibliographic source notes. Modern recordings, musical arrangements, photographs and translations require their own permission.

Historical preservation is not endorsement. Some writers held profoundly harmful views; their influence should be studied with attention to slavery, antisemitism, colonialism and the treatment of vulnerable people. See our research standard.
