May You send rain on the land that You gave Your people as an inheritance.1 Kings 8:37When famine or plague comes upon the land, or blight or mildew or locusts or grasshoppers, or when their enemy besieges them in their cities, whatever plague or sickness may come,1 Kings 8:38then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—1 Kings 8:39be heard by You from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You forgive and act, and repay each man according to all his ways, since You know his heart—for You alone know the hearts of all men—1 Kings 8:40so that they may fear You all the days they live in the land that You gave to our fathers.1 Kings 8:41And as for the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of Your name—1 Kings 8:42for they will hear of Your great name and mighty hand and outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple,1 Kings 8:43then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.1 Kings 8:44When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the LORD in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,1 Kings 8:45then may You hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and may You uphold their cause.1 Kings 8:46When they sin against You—for there is no one who does not sin—and You become angry with them and deliver them to an enemy who takes them as captives to his own land, whether far or near,1 Kings 8:47and when they come to their senses in the land to which they were taken, and they repent and plead with You in the land of their captors, saying, ‘We have sinned and done wrong; we have acted wickedly,’1 Kings 8:48and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them captive, and when they pray to You in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name,1 Kings 8:49then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, their prayer and petition, and may You uphold their cause.1 Kings 8:50May You forgive Your people who have sinned against You and all the transgressions they have committed against You, and may You grant them compassion in the eyes of their captors to show them mercy.1 Kings 9:3And the LORD said to him: “I have heard your prayer and petition before Me. I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting My Name there forever; My eyes and My heart will be there for all time.1 Kings 9:4And as for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, with a heart of integrity and uprightness, doing all I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and ordinances,1 Kings 9:5then I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised your father David when I said, ‘You will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’1 Kings 9:6But if indeed you or your sons turn away from following Me and do not keep the commandments and statutes I have set before you, and if you go off to serve and worship other gods,1 Kings 9:7then I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given them, and I will banish from My presence this temple I have sanctified for My Name. Then Israel will become an object of scorn and ridicule among all peoples.1 Kings 9:8And when this temple has become a heap of rubble, all who pass by it will be appalled and will hiss and say, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’1 Kings 9:9And others will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the LORD their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them—because of this, the LORD has brought all this disaster upon them.’”1 Kings 17:2Then a revelation from the LORD came to Elijah:1 Kings 17:3“Leave here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.1 Kings 17:4And you are to drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”1 Kings 17:5So Elijah did what the LORD had told him, and he went and lived by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.1 Kings 17:6The ravens would bring him bread and meat in the morning and evening, and he would drink from the brook.1 Kings 17:7Some time later, however, the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.1 Kings 17:12But she replied, “As surely as the LORD your God lives, I have no bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks to take home and prepare a meal for myself and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”1 Kings 17:13“Do not be afraid,” Elijah said to her. “Go and do as you have said. But first make me a small cake of bread from what you have, and bring it out to me. Afterward, make some for yourself and your son,1 Kings 17:14for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be exhausted and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain upon the face of the earth.’”1 Kings 17:15So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and there was food every day for Elijah and the woman and her household.1 Kings 17:16The jar of flour was not exhausted and the jug of oil did not run dry, according to the word that the LORD had spoken through Elijah.1 Kings 17:20Then he cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on this widow who has opened her home to me, by causing her son to die?”1 Kings 17:21Then he stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, please let this boy’s life return to him!”1 Kings 18:42So Ahab went up to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the summit of Carmel, bent down on the ground, and put his face between his knees.1 Kings 18:44On the seventh time the servant reported, “There is a cloud as small as a man’s hand rising from the sea.” And Elijah replied, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”1 Kings 19:5Then he lay down under the broom tree and fell asleep. Suddenly an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”1 Kings 19:6And he looked around, and there by his head was a cake of bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again.1 Kings 19:7A second time the angel of the LORD returned and touched him, saying, “Get up and eat, or the journey will be too much for you.”1 Kings 19:8So he got up and ate and drank. And strengthened by that food, he walked forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.2 Kings 18:6He remained faithful to the LORD and did not turn from following Him; he kept the commandments that the LORD had given Moses.
