Acts 13:42As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people urged them to continue this message on the next Sabbath.Acts 13:43After the synagogue was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.Acts 15:1Then some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”Acts 15:2And after engaging these men in sharp debate, Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.Acts 15:3Sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, recounting the conversion of the Gentiles and bringing great joy to all the brothers.Acts 15:4On their arrival in Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and apostles and elders, to whom they reported all that God had done through them.Acts 15:5But some believers from the party of the Pharisees stood up and declared, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses.”Acts 15:6So the apostles and elders met to look into this matter.Acts 15:7After much discussion, Peter got up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you that the Gentiles would hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.Acts 15:8And God, who knows the heart, showed His approval by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as He did to us.Acts 15:9He made no distinction between us and them, for He cleansed their hearts by faith.Acts 15:10Now then, why do you test God by placing on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?Acts 15:11On the contrary, we believe it is through the grace of the Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”Acts 15:12The whole assembly fell silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul describing the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.Acts 15:13When they had finished speaking, James declared, “Brothers, listen to me!Acts 15:14Simon has told us how God first visited the Gentiles to take from them a people to be His own.Acts 15:15The words of the prophets agree with this, as it is written:Acts 15:16‘After this I will return and rebuild the fallen tent of David. They chose Judas called Barsabbas and Silas, two leaders among the brothers,Acts 15:23and sent them with this letter: The apostles and the elders, your brothers, To the brothers among the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings.Acts 15:24It has come to our attention that some went out from us without our authorization and unsettled you, troubling your minds by what they said.Acts 15:25So we all agreed to choose men to send to you along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,Acts 15:26men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.Acts 15:27Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to tell you in person the same things we are writing.Acts 15:28It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond these essential requirements:Acts 15:29You must abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. It is excluded. On what principle? On that of works? No, but on that of faith.Romans 3:28For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the law.Romans 3:29Is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too,Romans 3:30since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.Romans 3:31Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Certainly not! Instead, we uphold the law.Romans 4:1What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has discovered?Romans 4:2If Abraham was indeed justified by works, he had something to boast about, but not before God.Romans 4:3For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”Romans 4:4Now the wages of the worker are not credited as a gift, but as an obligation.Romans 4:5However, to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness.
