Genesis 27:8Now, my son, listen to my voice and do exactly as I tell you.Genesis 27:9Go out to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, so that I can make them into a tasty dish for your father—the kind he loves.Genesis 27:10Then take it to your father to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.”Genesis 27:11Jacob answered his mother Rebekah, “Look, my brother Esau is a hairy man, but I am smooth-skinned.Genesis 27:12What if my father touches me? Then I would be revealed to him as a deceiver, and I would bring upon myself a curse rather than a blessing.”Genesis 27:13His mother replied, “Your curse be on me, my son. Stay here with me.”Genesis 29:20So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, yet it seemed but a few days because of his love for her.Genesis 29:21Finally Jacob said to Laban, “Grant me my wife, for my time is complete, and I want to sleep with her.”Genesis 29:22So Laban invited all the men of that place and prepared a feast.Genesis 29:23But when evening came, Laban took his daughter Leah and gave her to Jacob, and he slept with her.Genesis 29:24And Laban gave his servant girl Zilpah to his daughter Leah as her maidservant.Genesis 29:25When morning came, there was Leah! “What have you done to me?” Jacob said to Laban. “Wasn’t it for Rachel that I served you? Why have you deceived me?”Genesis 29:26Laban replied, “It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older.Genesis 29:27Finish this week’s celebration, and we will give you the younger one in return for another seven years of work.”Genesis 29:28And Jacob did just that. He finished the week’s celebration, and Laban gave him his daughter Rachel as his wife.Genesis 29:29Laban also gave his servant girl Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as her maidservant.Genesis 29:30Jacob slept with Rachel as well, and indeed, he loved Rachel more than Leah. So he worked for Laban another seven years.Genesis 29:32And Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she named him Reuben, for she said, “The LORD has seen my affliction. Surely my husband will love me now.”Genesis 29:33Again she conceived and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Because the LORD has heard that I am unloved, He has given me this son as well.” So she named him Simeon.Genesis 29:34Once again Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.Genesis 29:35And once more she conceived and gave birth to a son and said, “This time I will praise the LORD.” So she named him Judah. Then Leah stopped having children.Genesis 30:1When Rachel saw that she was not bearing any children for Jacob, she envied her sister. “Give me children, or I will die!” she said to Jacob.Genesis 30:2Jacob became angry with Rachel and said, “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld children from you?”Genesis 30:6Then Rachel said, “God has vindicated me; He has heard my plea and given me a son.” So she named him Dan.Genesis 30:17And God listened to Leah, and she conceived and bore a fifth son to Jacob.Genesis 30:18Then Leah said, “God has rewarded me for giving my maidservant to my husband.” So she named him Issachar.Genesis 30:19Again Leah conceived and bore a sixth son to Jacob.Genesis 30:20“God has given me a good gift,” she said. “This time my husband will honor me, because I have borne him six sons.” And she named him Zebulun.Genesis 30:21After that, Leah gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah.Genesis 30:22Then God remembered Rachel. He listened to her and opened her womb,Genesis 30:23and she conceived and gave birth to a son. “God has taken away my shame,” she said.Genesis 30:24She named him Joseph, and said, “May the LORD add to me another son.”Genesis 33:5When Esau looked up and saw the women and children, he asked, “Who are these with you?” Jacob answered, “These are the children God has graciously given your servant.”Genesis 37:3Now Israel loved Joseph more than his other sons, because Joseph had been born to him in his old age; so he made him a robe of many colors.Genesis 37:4When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.Genesis 44:18Then Judah approached Joseph and said, “Sir, please let your servant speak personally to my lord. He is the only one of his mother’s sons left, and his father loves him.’Genesis 44:21Then you told your servants, ‘Bring him down to me so that I can see him for myself.’Genesis 44:22So we said to my lord, ‘The boy cannot leave his father. If he were to leave, his father would die.’Genesis 44:23But you said to your servants, ‘Unless your younger brother comes down with you, you will not see my face again.’Genesis 44:24Now when we returned to your servant my father, we relayed your words to him.Genesis 44:25Then our father said, ‘Go back and buy us some food.’Genesis 44:26But we answered, ‘We cannot go down there unless our younger brother goes with us. So if our younger brother is not with us, we cannot see the man.’Genesis 44:27And your servant my father said to us, ‘You know that my wife bore me two sons.Genesis 44:28When one of them was gone, I said: “Surely he has been torn to pieces.” And I have not seen him since.
