Luke 22:59About an hour later, another man insisted, “Certainly this man was with Him, for he too is a Galilean.”Luke 22:60“Man, I do not know what you are talking about,” Peter replied. And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.Luke 22:61And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. They led Jesus into their Sanhedrin and said,Luke 22:67“If You are the Christ, tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe.Luke 22:68And if I ask you a question, you will not answer.Luke 22:69But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”Luke 22:70So they all asked, “Are You then the Son of God?” He replied, “You say that I am.”Luke 22:71“Why do we need any more testimony?” they declared. “We have heard it for ourselves from His own lips.”John 18:13They brought Him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year.John 18:14Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it would be better if one man died for the people.John 18:15Now Simon Peter and another disciple were following Jesus. Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he also went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.John 18:16But Peter stood outside at the door. Then the disciple who was known to the high priest went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in.John 18:17At this, the servant girl watching the door said to Peter, “Aren’t you also one of this man’s disciples?” “I am not,” he answered.John 18:18Because it was cold, the servants and officers were standing around a charcoal fire they had made to keep warm. And Peter was also standing with them, warming himself.John 18:19Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus about His disciples and His teaching.John 18:20“I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus answered. “I always taught in the synagogues and at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret.John 18:21Why are you asking Me? Ask those who heard My message. Surely they know what I said.”John 18:22When Jesus had said this, one of the officers standing nearby slapped Him in the face and said, “Is this how You answer the high priest?”John 18:23Jesus replied, “If I said something wrong, testify as to what was wrong. But if I spoke correctly, why did you strike Me?”John 18:24Then Annas sent Him, still bound, to Caiaphas the high priest.John 18:25Simon Peter was still standing and warming himself. So they asked him, “Aren’t you also one of His disciples?” He denied it and said, “I am not.”John 18:26One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Didn’t I see you with Him in the garden?”John 18:27Peter denied it once more, and immediately a rooster crowed.John 18:28Then they led Jesus away from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. By now it was early morning, and the Jews did not enter the Praetorium, to avoid being defiled and unable to eat the Passover.John 20:23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you withhold forgiveness from anyone, it is withheld.”Acts 4:8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people!Acts 4:9If we are being examined today about a kind service to a man who was lame, to determine how he was healed,Acts 4:10then let this be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.Acts 4:11This Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’Acts 4:12Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”Acts 4:15So they ordered them to leave the Sanhedrin and then conferred together.Acts 4:16“What shall we do with these men?” they asked. “It is clear to everyone living in Jerusalem that a remarkable miracle has occurred through them, and we cannot deny it.Acts 4:17But to keep this message from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them not to speak to anyone in this name.”Acts 4:18Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.Acts 4:19But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to listen to you rather than God.Acts 4:20For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”Acts 5:17Then the high priest and all his associates, who belonged to the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They went outActs 5:18and arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.Acts 5:19But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out, saying,Acts 5:20“Go, stand in the temple courts and tell the people the full message of this new life.”Acts 5:21At daybreak the apostles entered the temple courts as they had been told and began to teach the people. When the high priest and his associates arrived, they convened the Sanhedrin—the full assembly of the elders of Israel—and sent to the jail for the apostles.Acts 5:25Then someone came in and announced, “Look, the men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people!”Acts 5:26At that point, the captain went with the officers and brought the apostles—but not by force, for fear the people would stone them.Acts 5:27They brought them in and made them stand before the Sanhedrin, where the high priest interrogated them.Acts 5:28“We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us responsible for this man’s blood.”Acts 5:29But Peter and the other apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than men.Acts 5:30The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had killed by hanging Him on a tree.Acts 5:31God exalted Him to His right hand as Prince and Savior, in order to grant repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.Acts 5:32We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”Acts 5:34But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a short time.Acts 5:38So in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone. Let them go! For if their purpose or endeavor is of human origin, it will fail.Acts 5:39But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God.”Acts 5:40At this, they yielded to Gamaliel. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and released them.Acts 5:41The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.Acts 6:11Then they prompted some men to say, “We heard Stephen speak words of blasphemy against Moses and against God.”
