Matthew 5:10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Matthew 5:11Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.Matthew 5:12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.Matthew 5:13You are the salt of the earth. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed,Luke 4:19to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”Luke 4:20Then He rolled up the scroll, returned it to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on Him,Luke 4:21and He began by saying, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”Luke 19:47Jesus was teaching at the temple every day, but the chief priests, scribes, and leaders of the people were intent on killing Him.Luke 20:1One day as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the gospel, the chief priests and scribes, together with the elders, came up to Him.Luke 20:2“Tell us,” they said, “by what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?”Luke 20:3“I will also ask you a question,” Jesus replied. “Tell Me:Luke 20:4John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or from men?”Luke 20:5They deliberated among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will ask, ‘Why did you not believe him?’Luke 20:6But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.”Luke 20:7So they answered that they did not know where it was from.
