Matthew 26:37He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.Mark 1:2As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “Behold, I will send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way.”Mark 1:3“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’”Mark 1:4John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.Mark 1:5People went out to him from all of Jerusalem and the countryside of Judea. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.Mark 1:6John was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. Herod held a banquet for his nobles and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.Mark 6:22When the daughter of Herodias came and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests, and the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.”Mark 6:23And he swore to her, “Whatever you ask of me, I will give you, up to half my kingdom!”Mark 6:24Then she went out and asked her mother, “What should I request?” And her mother answered, “The head of John the Baptist.”Mark 6:25At once the girl hurried back to the king with her request: “I want you to give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter immediately.”Mark 6:26The king was consumed with sorrow, but because of his oaths and his guests, he did not want to refuse her.Mark 6:27So without delay, the king commanded that John’s head be brought in. He sent an executioner, who went and beheaded him in the prison.Mark 6:28The man brought John’s head on a platter and presented it to the girl, who gave it to her mother.Mark 6:29When John’s disciples heard about this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.Mark 9:2After six days Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. These seats belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”Mark 10:41When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John.Mark 11:32But if we say, ‘From men’...” they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John truly was a prophet.Mark 14:13So He sent two of His disciples and told them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jug of water will meet you. Follow him,Mark 14:14and whichever house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’Mark 14:15And he will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”Mark 14:16So the disciples left and went into the city, where they found everything as Jesus had described. He shall be called John.”Luke 1:61They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who bears this name.”
