Exodus 18:21Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God: men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.Exodus 18:22Let them judge the people at all times. It shall be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they shall judge themselves. So shall it be easier for you, and they shall share the load with you.Exodus 18:23If you will do this thing, and God commands you so, then you will be able to endure, and all of these people also will go to their place in peace.”Exodus 18:24So Moses listened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said.Exodus 18:25Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.Exodus 18:26They judged the people at all times. They brought the hard causes to Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.Exodus 19:3Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:Exodus 19:4‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself.Exodus 19:5Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;Exodus 19:6and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”Exodus 19:7Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him.Exodus 19:8All the people answered together, and said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh.Exodus 19:9Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh.Exodus 32:19It happened, as soon as he came near to the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing: and Moses’ anger grew hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mountain.Exodus 32:22Aaron said, “Don’t let the anger of my lord grow hot. Why haven’t I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?Numbers 11:12Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them forth, that you should tell me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers?’Numbers 11:13Where could I get meat to give to all this people? For they weep to me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’Numbers 11:14I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.Numbers 11:15If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”Numbers 11:16Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.Numbers 11:17I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone.Numbers 11:18“Say to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and you will eat flesh; for you have wept in the ears of Yahweh, saying, “Who will give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore Yahweh will give you flesh, and you will eat.Numbers 11:19You will not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,Numbers 11:20but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because that you have rejected Yahweh who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”Numbers 11:21Moses said, “The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, ‘I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.’Numbers 11:22Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”Numbers 11:23Yahweh said to Moses, “Has Yahweh’s hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not.”Numbers 11:24Moses went out, and told the people the words of Yahweh; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.Numbers 11:25Yahweh came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders: and it happened that when the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.Numbers 11:26But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested on them; and they were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.Numbers 11:27A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”Numbers 11:28Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “My lord Moses, forbid them!”Numbers 11:29Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!”Numbers 11:30Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.Numbers 12:3Now the man Moses was very humble, above all the men who were on the surface of the earth.
