2 Samuel 5:14These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,2 Samuel 7:1After the king had settled into his palace and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies around him,2 Samuel 7:2he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”2 Samuel 7:3And Nathan replied to the king, “Go and do all that is in your heart, for the LORD is with you.”2 Samuel 7:4But that night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying,2 Samuel 7:5“Go and tell My servant David that this is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build for Me a house to dwell in?2 Samuel 7:6For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved about with a tent as My dwelling.2 Samuel 7:7In all My journeys with all the Israelites, have I ever asked any of the leaders I appointed to shepherd My people Israel, ‘Why haven’t you built Me a house of cedar?’2 Samuel 7:8Now then, you are to tell My servant David that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the flock, to be the ruler over My people Israel.2 Samuel 7:9I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like that of the greatest in the land.2 Samuel 7:10And I will provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No longer will the sons of wickedness oppress them as they did at the beginning2 Samuel 7:11and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. I will give you rest from all your enemies. The LORD declares to you that He Himself will establish a house for you.2 Samuel 7:12And when your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom.2 Samuel 7:13He will build a house for My Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.2 Samuel 7:14I will be his Father, and he will be My son. When he does wrong, I will discipline him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.2 Samuel 7:15But My loving devotion will never be removed from him as I removed it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.2 Samuel 7:16Your house and kingdom will endure forever before Me, and your throne will be established forever.”2 Samuel 7:17So Nathan relayed to David all the words of this entire revelation.2 Samuel 12:1Then the LORD sent Nathan to David, and when he arrived, he said, “There were two men in a certain city, one rich and the other poor.2 Samuel 12:2The rich man had a great number of sheep and cattle,2 Samuel 12:3but the poor man had nothing except one small ewe lamb that he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food and drank from his cup; it slept in his arms and was like a daughter to him.2 Samuel 12:4Now a traveler came to the rich man, who refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for his guest.”2 Samuel 12:5David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan: “As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this deserves to die!2 Samuel 12:6Because he has done this thing and has shown no pity, he must pay for the lamb four times over.”2 Samuel 12:7Then Nathan said to David, “You are that man! This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.2 Samuel 12:8I gave your master’s house to you and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah, and if that was not enough, I would have given you even more.2 Samuel 12:9Why then have you despised the command of the LORD by doing evil in His sight? You put Uriah the Hittite to the sword and took his wife as your own. You have slain him with the sword of the Ammonites.2 Samuel 12:10Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’2 Samuel 12:11This is what the LORD says: ‘I will raise up adversity against you from your own house. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to another, and he will lie with them in broad daylight.2 Samuel 12:12You have acted in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.’”2 Samuel 12:13Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the LORD.” “The LORD has taken away your sin,” Nathan replied. “You will not die.2 Samuel 12:14Nevertheless, because by this deed you have shown utter contempt for the word of the LORD, the son born to you will surely die.”2 Samuel 12:15After Nathan had gone home, the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill.2 Samuel 12:25and sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah because the LORD loved him.1 Kings 1:10But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, or his brother Solomon.1 Kings 1:11Then Nathan said to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, “Have you not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith has become king, and our lord David does not know it?1 Kings 1:12Now please, come and let me advise you. Save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.1 Kings 1:13Go at once to King David and say, ‘My lord the king, did you not swear to your maidservant, “Surely your son Solomon will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne”? Why then has Adonijah become king?’1 Kings 1:14Then, while you are still there speaking with the king, I will come in after you and confirm your words.”1 Kings 1:22And just then, while Bathsheba was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet arrived.1 Kings 1:23So the king was told, “Nathan the prophet is here.” And Nathan went in and bowed facedown before the king.1 Kings 1:24“My lord the king,” said Nathan, “did you say, ‘Adonijah will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne’?1 Kings 1:25For today he has gone down and sacrificed an abundance of oxen, fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the sons of the king, the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the priest. And behold, they are eating and drinking before him, saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’1 Kings 1:26But me your servant he has not invited, nor Zadok the priest, nor Benaiah son of Jehoiada, nor your servant Solomon.1 Kings 1:27Has my lord the king let this happen without informing your servant who should sit on the throne after my lord the king?”1 Kings 1:32Then King David said, “Call in for me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” So they came before the king.1 Kings 1:33“Take my servants with you,” said the king. “Set my son Solomon on my own mule and take him down to Gihon.1 Kings 1:34There Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet are to anoint him king over Israel. You are to blow the ram’s horn and declare, ‘Long live King Solomon!’1 Kings 1:35Then you shall go up with him, and he is to come and sit on my throne and reign in my place. For I have appointed him ruler over Israel and Judah.”1 Kings 1:36“Amen,” replied Benaiah son of Jehoiada. “May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, so declare it.1 Kings 1:37Just as the LORD was with my lord the king, so may He be with Solomon and make his throne even greater than that of my lord King David.”1 Kings 1:38Then Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, along with the Cherethites and Pelethites, went down and set Solomon on King David’s mule, and they escorted him to Gihon.1 Kings 1:39Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the tabernacle and anointed Solomon. Then they blew the ram’s horn, and all the people proclaimed, “Long live King Solomon!”1 Kings 1:40All the people followed him, playing flutes and rejoicing with such a great joy that the earth was split by the sound.1 Kings 1:41Now Adonijah and all his guests were finishing their feast when they heard the sound of the ram’s horn. “Why is the city in such a loud uproar?” asked Joab.1 Kings 1:42As he was speaking, suddenly Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest arrived. “Come in,” said Adonijah, “for you are a man of valor. You must be bringing good news.”1 Kings 1:43“Not at all,” Jonathan replied. “Our lord King David has made Solomon king.1 Kings 1:44And with Solomon, the king has sent Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, along with the Cherethites and Pelethites, and they have set him on the king’s mule.1 Kings 1:45Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king at Gihon, and they have gone up from there with rejoicing that rings out in the city. That is the noise you hear.1 Chronicles 3:5and these sons were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon. These four were born to him by Bathsheba daughter of Ammiel.
