2 Chronicles 12:10Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place and committed them to the care of the captains of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace.2 Chronicles 12:11And whenever the king entered the house of the LORD, the guards would go with him, bearing the shields, and later they would return them to the guardroom.2 Chronicles 12:12Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from him, and He did not destroy him completely. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.2 Chronicles 15:3For many years Israel has been without the true God, without a priest to instruct them, and without the law.2 Chronicles 15:4But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by them.2 Chronicles 15:5In those days there was no safety for travelers, because the residents of the lands had many conflicts.2 Chronicles 15:6Nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God afflicted them with all kinds of adversity.2 Chronicles 15:7But as for you, be strong; do not be discouraged, for your work will be rewarded.”2 Chronicles 15:8When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He then restored the altar of the LORD that was in front of the portico of the LORD’s temple.2 Chronicles 15:9And he assembled all Judah and Benjamin, along with those from the tribes of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who had settled among them, for great numbers had come over to him from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.2 Chronicles 15:10So they gathered together in Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign.2 Chronicles 15:11At that time they sacrificed to the LORD seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep from all the plunder they had brought back.2 Chronicles 15:12Then they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul.2 Chronicles 15:13And whoever would not seek the LORD, the God of Israel, would be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.2 Chronicles 15:14They took an oath to the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting, trumpets, and rams’ horns.2 Chronicles 15:15And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn it with all their heart. They had sought Him earnestly, and He was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on every side.2 Chronicles 28:9But a prophet of the LORD named Oded was there, and he went out to meet the army that returned to Samaria. “Look,” he said to them, “because of His wrath against Judah, the LORD, the God of your fathers, has delivered them into your hand. But you have slaughtered them in a rage that reaches up to heaven.2 Chronicles 28:10And now you intend to reduce to slavery the men and women of Judah and Jerusalem. But are you not also guilty before the LORD your God?2 Chronicles 28:11Now therefore, listen to me and return the captives you took from your kinsmen, for the fierce anger of the LORD is upon you.”2 Chronicles 28:12Then some of the leaders of the Ephraimites—Azariah son of Jehohanan, Berechiah son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai—stood in opposition to those arriving from the war.2 Chronicles 28:13“You must not bring the captives here,” they said, “for you are proposing to bring guilt upon us from the LORD and to add to our sins and our guilt. For our guilt is great, and fierce anger is upon Israel.”2 Chronicles 28:14So the armed men left the captives and the plunder before the leaders and all the assembly.2 Chronicles 28:15Then the men who were designated by name arose, took charge of the captives, and provided from the plunder clothing for the naked. They clothed them, gave them sandals and food and drink, anointed their wounds, and put all the feeble on donkeys. So they brought them to Jericho, the City of Palms, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.2 Chronicles 29:6For our fathers were unfaithful and did evil in the sight of the LORD our God. Serve the LORD your God, so that His fierce anger will turn away from you.2 Chronicles 30:9For if you return to the LORD, your brothers and sons will receive mercy in the presence of their captors and will return to this land. Would You not become so angry with us as to wipe us out, leaving no remnant or survivor?Nehemiah 1:6let Your eyes be open and Your ears attentive to hear the prayer that I, Your servant, now pray before You day and night for Your servants, the Israelites. I confess the sins that we Israelites have committed against You. Both I and my father’s house have sinned.Nehemiah 1:7We have behaved corruptly against You and have not kept the commandments, statutes, and ordinances that You gave Your servant Moses.Nehemiah 1:9but if you return to Me and keep and practice My commandments, then even if your exiles have been banished to the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for My Name.’Nehemiah 5:1About that time there was a great outcry from the people and their wives against their fellow Jews.Nehemiah 5:2Some were saying, “We and our sons and daughters are numerous. We must get grain in order to eat and stay alive.”Nehemiah 5:3Others were saying, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards, and our homes to get grain during the famine.”Nehemiah 5:4Still others were saying, “We have borrowed money to pay the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards.Nehemiah 5:5We and our children are just like our countrymen and their children, yet we are subjecting our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters are already enslaved, but we are powerless to redeem them because our fields and vineyards belong to others.”Nehemiah 5:6When I heard their outcry and these complaints, I became extremely angry,Nehemiah 5:7and after serious thought I rebuked the nobles and officials, saying, “You are exacting usury from your own brothers!” So I called a large assembly against themNehemiah 5:8and said, “We have done our best to buy back our Jewish brothers who were sold to foreigners, but now you are selling your own brothers, that they may be sold back to us!” But they remained silent, for they could find nothing to say.Nehemiah 5:9So I continued, “What you are doing is not right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God to avoid the reproach of our foreign enemies?Nehemiah 5:10I, as well as my brothers and my servants, have been lending the people money and grain. Please, let us stop this usury.Nehemiah 5:11Please restore to them immediately their fields, vineyards, olive groves, and houses, along with the percentage of the money, grain, new wine, and oil that you have been assessing them.”Nehemiah 5:12“We will restore it,” they replied, “and will require nothing more from them. We will do as you say.” So I summoned the priests and required of the nobles and officials an oath that they would do what they had promised.Nehemiah 5:13I also shook out the folds of my robe and said, “May God likewise shake out of his house and possessions every man who does not keep this promise. May such a man be shaken out and have nothing!” The whole assembly said, “Amen,” and they praised the LORD. And the people did as they had promised.Nehemiah 8:1At that time all the people gathered together in the square before the Water Gate, and they asked Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.Nehemiah 8:2On the first day of the seventh month, Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly of men and women and all who could listen and understand.Nehemiah 8:3So Ezra read it aloud from daybreak until noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate, in front of the men and women and those who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.Nehemiah 8:4Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform built for this occasion. At his right side stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, and at his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hash-baddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
