1 Samuel 7:8And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto Jehovah our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.1 Samuel 7:9And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt-offering unto Jehovah: and Samuel cried unto Jehovah for Israel; and Jehovah answered him.1 Samuel 7:10And as Samuel was offering up the burnt-offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel; but Jehovah thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten down before Israel.1 Samuel 7:11And the men of Israel went out of Mizpah, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Beth-car.1 Samuel 7:12Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called the name of it Eben-ezer, saying, Hitherto hath Jehovah helped us.1 Samuel 7:13So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more within the border of Israel: and the hand of Jehovah was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.1 Samuel 7:14And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even unto Gath; and the border thereof did Israel deliver out of the hand of the Philistines. And Samuel prayed unto Jehovah.1 Samuel 8:7And Jehovah said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee; for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not be king over them.1 Samuel 8:8According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, in that they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.1 Samuel 8:9Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit thou shalt protest solemnly unto them, and shalt show them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.1 Samuel 8:10And Samuel told all the words of Jehovah unto the people that asked of him a king.1 Samuel 8:11And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: he will take your sons, and appoint them unto him, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and they shall run before his chariots;1 Samuel 8:12and he will appoint them unto him for captains of thousands, and captains of fifties; and he will set some to plow his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and the instruments of his chariots.1 Samuel 8:13And he will take your daughters to be perfumers, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.1 Samuel 8:14And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.1 Samuel 8:15And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.1 Samuel 8:16And he will take your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.1 Samuel 8:17He will take the tenth of your flocks: and ye shall be his servants.1 Samuel 8:18And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king whom ye shall have chosen you; and Jehovah will not answer you in that day.1 Samuel 8:19But the people refused to hearken unto the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay: but we will have a king over us,1 Samuel 8:20that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.1 Samuel 8:21And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of Jehovah.1 Samuel 8:22And Jehovah said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.1 Samuel 9:10Then said Saul to his servant, Well said; come, let us go. And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines assembled themselves together at Michmash;1 Samuel 13:12therefore said I, Now will the Philistines come down upon me to Gilgal, and I have not entreated the favor of Jehovah: I forced myself therefore, and offered the burnt-offering.1 Samuel 13:13And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly; thou hast not kept the commandment of Jehovah thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would Jehovah have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.1 Samuel 13:14But now thy kingdom shall not continue: Jehovah hath sought him a man after his own heart, and Jehovah hath appointed him to be prince over his people, because thou hast not kept that which Jehovah commanded thee.1 Samuel 13:15And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin.And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.1 Samuel 19:18Now David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at En-dor.1 Samuel 28:8And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, Divine unto me, I pray thee, by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whomsoever I shall name unto thee.1 Samuel 28:9And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?1 Samuel 28:10And Saul sware to her by Jehovah, saying, As Jehovah liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.1 Samuel 28:11Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.1 Samuel 28:12And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.1 Samuel 28:13And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what seest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I see a god coming up out of the earth.
