Genesis 11:29Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran who was also the father of Iscah.Genesis 11:30Sarai was barren. She had no child.Genesis 11:31Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife. They went from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. When she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.Genesis 16:5Sarai said to Abram, “This wrong is your fault. I gave my handmaid into your bosom, and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes. Yahweh judge between me and you.”Genesis 16:6But Abram said to Sarai, “Behold, your maid is in your hand. Do to her whatever is good in your eyes.” Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her face.Genesis 17:15God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but her name will be Sarah.Genesis 17:16I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her. Yes, I will bless her, and she will be a mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her.”Genesis 17:17Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? He will become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.Genesis 17:21But my covenant I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time next year.”Genesis 18:9They asked him, “Where is Sarah, your wife?” He said, “See, in the tent.”Genesis 18:10He said, “I will certainly return to you when the season comes round. Behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.” Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.Genesis 18:11Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.Genesis 18:12Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”Genesis 18:13Yahweh said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Will I really bear a child, yet I am old?’Genesis 18:14Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes round, and Sarah will have a son.”Genesis 18:15Then Sarah denied, saying, “I didn’t laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”Genesis 20:1Abraham traveled from there toward the land of the South, and lived between Kadesh and Shur. He lived as a foreigner in Gerar.Genesis 20:2Abraham said about Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.Genesis 20:3But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Behold, you are a dead man, because of the woman whom you have taken. For she is a man’s wife.”Genesis 20:4Now Abimelech had not come near her. He said, “Lord, will you kill even a righteous nation?Genesis 20:5Didn’t he tell me, ‘She is my sister?’ She, even she herself, said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands have I done this.”Genesis 20:6God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also withheld you from sinning against me. Therefore I didn’t allow you to touch her.Genesis 20:7Now therefore, restore the man’s wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don’t restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours.”Genesis 20:8Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ear. The men were very scared.Genesis 20:9Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done!”Genesis 20:10Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you see, that you have done this thing?”Genesis 20:11Abraham said, “Because I thought, ‘Surely the fear of God is not in this place. They will kill me for my wife’s sake.’Genesis 20:12Besides, she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.Genesis 20:13It happened, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, ‘This is your kindness which you shall show to me. Everywhere that we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”Genesis 20:14Abimelech took sheep and cattle, male servants and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored Sarah, his wife, to him.Genesis 21:3Abraham called his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.Genesis 21:6Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me.”Genesis 21:7She said, “Who would have said to Abraham, that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.”Genesis 21:8The child grew, and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.Genesis 21:9Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.Genesis 21:10Therefore she said to Abraham, “Cast out this handmaid and her son! For the son of this handmaid will not be heir with my son, Isaac.”Genesis 21:11The thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight on account of his son.Genesis 21:12God said to Abraham, “Don’t let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your handmaid. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For from Isaac will your seed be called.Genesis 21:13I will also make a nation of the son of the handmaid, because he is your seed.”Genesis 21:14Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder; and gave her the child, and sent her away. She departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.Genesis 25:10the field which Abraham purchased of the children of Heth. Abraham was buried there with Sarah, his wife.
