Job 1:17While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have taken them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.Job 1:18While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house;Job 1:19and, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.Job 1:20Then Job arose, and rent his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped;Job 1:21and he said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: Jehovah gave, and Jehovah hath taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah.Job 1:22In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.Job 2:3And Jehovah said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job? for there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and turneth away from evil: and he still holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.Job 2:4And Satan answered Jehovah, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.Job 2:5But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce thee to thy face.Job 2:6And Jehovah said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thy hand; only spare his life.Job 2:7So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.Job 2:8And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself therewith; and he sat among the ashes.Job 2:9Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still hold fast thine integrity? renounce God, and die.Job 2:10But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? And when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?Job 31:15Did not he that made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?Job 31:16If I have withheld the poor from their desire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,Job 31:17Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the fatherless hath not eaten thereofJob 31:19If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, Or that the needy had no covering;Job 31:20If his loins have not blessed me, And if he hath not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep;Job 31:21If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, Because I saw my help in the gate:Job 31:22Then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder-blade, And mine arm be broken from the bone.Job 31:23For calamity from God is a terror to me, And by reason of his majesty I can do nothing.Job 31:24If I have made gold my hope, And have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;Job 31:25If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gotten much;Job 31:26If I have beheld the sun when it shined, Or the moon walking in brightness,Job 31:27And my heart hath been secretly enticed, And my mouth hath kissed my hand:Job 31:28This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judges; For I should have denied the God that is above.Job 31:29If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, Or lifted up myself when evil found himJob 31:30(Yea, I have not suffered by mouth to sin By asking his life with a curse);Job 31:31If the men of my tent have not said, Who can find one that hath not been filled with his meat?Job 31:32(The sojourner hath not lodged in the street; But I have opened my doors to the traveller);Job 31:33If like Adam I have covered my transgressions, By hiding mine iniquity in my bosom,Job 31:34Because I feared the great multitude, And the contempt of families terrified me, So that I kept silence, and went not out of the door—Job 31:38If my land crieth out against me, And the furrows thereof weep together;Job 31:39If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, Or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:Job 31:40Let thistles grow instead of wheat, And cockle instead of barley.
