But each of them also received a denarius.Matthew 20:11On receiving their pay, they began to grumble against the landowner.Matthew 20:12‘These men who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the scorching heat of the day.’Matthew 20:13But he answered one of them, ‘Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Did you not agree with me on one denarius?Matthew 20:14Take your pay and go. I want to give this last man the same as I gave you.Matthew 20:15Do I not have the right to do as I please with what is mine? He went to look for fruit on it but did not find any.Luke 13:7So he said to the keeper of the vineyard, ‘Look, for the past three years I have come to search for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Therefore cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’Luke 13:8‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone again this year, until I dig around it and fertilize it.Luke 13:9If it bears fruit next year, fine. But if not, you can cut it down.’”
