Why was it made?

To expose possible shades of meaning by adding explanatory English words and phrases.

How did it develop?

The complete Amplified Bible appeared in 1965. Its distinctive brackets and expansions are designed as study aids, not as a claim that every supplied synonym is simultaneously present in the source text. A major revision appeared in 2015.
