Who made it?

American members of the RV revision project continued their preferred readings into an American edition.

Why was it made?

To provide an American revision of the English RV/KJV tradition.

How did it develop?

Published in 1901, the ASV incorporated readings and wording preferred by the American revisers who had participated in the British Revised Version. It later became an important base text for the RSV, NASB, WEB and other revisions.
