To modernize KJV vocabulary and grammar while preserving its traditional textual base and style.
How did it develop?
The NKJV project began in 1975. The New Testament appeared in 1979 and the complete Bible in 1982. It generally retains the traditional Greek textual base used by the KJV while updating English.
