New Revised Standard Version NRSV

Who made it?

Division of Christian Education of the National Council of Churches; ecumenical committee.

Why was it made?

To revise the RSV using newer manuscript evidence and scholarship and more inclusive contemporary English.

How did it develop?

Published in 1989, the NRSV became widely used in academic and many mainline church settings. It was later updated as the NRSVue.

Critical Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek editions plus ancient versions/manuscripts
