Young’s Literal Translation YLT
Who made it?
Robert Young, Scottish biblical scholar and compiler of Young’s Analytical Concordance.
Why was it made?
To reproduce Hebrew and Greek grammatical features in unusually literal English.
How did it develop?
First issued in 1862 and revised during and after Young’s lifetime, YLT deliberately preserves features such as verbal tense and word order more aggressively than normal English translations.
