The object of this chapter is to establish the same charges against the Jews, which had just been proved against the Gentiles, and to show that they also were exposed to the wrath of God. It consists of three parts. The first contains an exhibition of those simple principles of justice upon which all men are to be judged, vs. 1 — 16. The second is an applica- tion of these principles to the case of the Jews, vs. 17 — 24. The third is an exhibition of the true nature and design of circumcision, intended to show that the Jews could not expect exemption on the ground of that rite, vs. 25—29.
