therefore adds, according to my gospel, which of course cannot mean that all men are to be judged by the gospel, whether they have heard it or not. This would be in direct contradiction to the principle which he had just been establishing, that men are to be judged by the light they seve- rally possess. The meaning is, that the fact of a final and righteous judgment is part of the revelation of the gospel.
Such then are the principles on which Paul assures us that all men are to be judged. They commend themselves irresistibly to every man's conscience as soon as they are announced, and yet every false hope of heaven is founded on their denial or neglect.
