John Bunyan was an English Nonconformist preacher best known for The Pilgrim’s Progress. Born to a working family, Bunyan became a powerful popular preacher after a period of intense spiritual struggle that he later described in Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners.
After the Restoration, Bunyan spent years imprisoned for preaching without authorization under the established church system. He continued writing during periods of imprisonment and ministry.
The Pilgrim’s Progress, first published in 1678 with a second part in 1684, tells the Christian life as a journey through memorable characters and places—Christian, Evangelist, Faithful, Vanity Fair, Doubting Castle and the Celestial City. Its biblical imagery made it one of the most translated and influential books in Christian history.
Born Again Daily preserves it as literature and spiritual history. Its allegorical interpretations are Bunyan’s, and readers can follow its biblical allusions back into the Bible Study Center.
