Baptism
Christians broadly agree that baptism is commanded by Christ and bound up with discipleship, but disagree about subjects, mode, timing, and its relation to grace.
Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, Anglican, Methodist and other traditions commonly baptize infants as well as converts and speak of baptism as a means or sign of grace in different ways. Baptist and many evangelical traditions normally reserve baptism for professing believers and often practice immersion. The disagreement turns on covenant continuity, household texts, the meaning of baptism passages, and early Christian practice.
