CHRISTIAN DIFFERENCES

Predestination, Election & Free Will

Christians agree that salvation is God’s grace and that Scripture speaks of election. They disagree about how divine sovereignty and meaningful human response fit together.

Reformed/Calvinist traditions commonly teach unconditional election and effectual grace. Arminian/Wesleyan traditions stress prevenient grace and a genuinely resistible response. Catholic and Orthodox accounts use different categories and resist some Protestant framing. The debate requires Romans 8–11, Ephesians 1, John 6, warning passages, and the wider biblical witness—not slogans.
