CHRISTIAN DIFFERENCES
Spiritual Gifts
Christians agree that the Holy Spirit gives gifts for the good of the church. They differ over whether gifts such as tongues, prophecy, and healing continue in the same way today.
Pentecostal and charismatic Christians expect continuing gifts and often emphasize present experience under biblical testing. Cessationists argue that some sign/revelatory gifts had a foundational apostolic role and are not normative now. Many Christians occupy a cautious continuationist middle. The disagreement includes how to read Acts, 1 Corinthians 12–14, Ephesians 2 and claims of modern experience.
