What happened?

The council reaffirmed Nicene faith and addressed continuing Trinitarian disputes, including the status of the Holy Spirit.

Why it matters

Its creed, received together with Nicaea, became the standard Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed used widely in Christian worship.
