Course Outline

LESSON 1

Pentecost and Witness

Acts begins with the risen Jesus commissioning witnesses and promising the Holy Spirit. Pentecost marks a decisive empowering of the church for witness.

LESSON 2

Opposition, Courage, and Conversion

Primary passage: Acts 6:1-9:31

The early church faces internal pressures and external persecution. Stephen’s death becomes a turning point in the spread of believers beyond Jerusalem.

LESSON 3

Gentiles and the Church

Primary passage: Acts 10:1-15:35

Peter’s encounter with Cornelius and the Jerusalem discussions force the church to wrestle publicly with Gentile inclusion.

LESSON 4

Mission to Rome

Primary passage: Acts 16:1-28:31

Paul’s journeys take the message through cities, homes, synagogues, marketplaces, courts, prisons, and eventually toward Rome. Mission happens through preaching, conversation, hospitality, suffering, teamwork, and endurance.
