Jesus: Life, Teaching, Cross, and Resurrection

A guided Gospel study of Jesus’ identity, kingdom, teaching, miracles, cross, resurrection, and mission.

Course Outline

LESSON 1

The Word Became Flesh

Primary passage: John 1:1-18

John opens by identifying the Word in relation to God, creation, life, light, and incarnation. Jesus is not introduced merely as an ethical teacher.

LESSON 2

Kingdom and Discipleship

Primary passage: Mark 1:14-20

Jesus announces God’s kingdom and calls for repentance and faith. The call of disciples shows that this announcement demands allegiance.

LESSON 3

Teaching and Signs

Primary passage: Matthew 5:1-48

The Sermon on the Mount describes kingdom character, while Gospel miracles display authority and compassion. Both ask what life under Jesus’ rule looks like.

LESSON 4

Cross, Resurrection, Mission

Primary passage: Matthew 28:1-20

The crucifixion stands at the center of the Gospel story, and the resurrection is presented as God’s victory over death. Matthew links resurrection authority to making disciples.
