MINISTRY TRAINING · MODULE 4 · UNIT 4 OF 4
Grace and Discipleship
Study passage: Ephesians 2:8-10. Read the whole surrounding chapter before relying on this unit.
Teaching and interpretation
Ephesians connects salvation by grace with being created for good works. The relationship is not a fee that earns grace, nor does grace mean moral accountability disappears. Teach repentance, forgiveness and growth without claiming that a single prayer instantly resolves addictions, trauma or poverty. A church should invite belonging and support rather than demand public proof of private emotions.
Pastoral case to discuss
A newcomer cannot recall a dramatic conversion moment. What does the passage emphasize, and what should the minister avoid asserting?
Describe the relevant facts and what you would still need to know. Do not present assumptions as the person's motives, diagnose a disorder or make unverified claims about Scripture.
Required practical exercise
Write a two-page new-believer lesson with plain definitions, actual Scripture and a compassionate answer to uncertainty.
Support your answers with passages in context and distinguish biblical teaching, historical interpretation, modern professional standards and personal judgment. Keep real people's details confidential.
