Genesis 11:26Terah lived seventy years, and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.Genesis 11:27Now this is the history of the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran became the father of Lot.Genesis 11:29Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran who was also the father of Iscah.Genesis 11:31Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife. They went from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.Genesis 12:5Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came.Genesis 12:6Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land.Genesis 12:7Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your seed.” He built an altar there to Yahweh, who appeared to him.Genesis 12:8He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on the name of Yahweh.Genesis 12:10There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to live as a foreigner there, for the famine was severe in the land.Genesis 12:11It happened, when he had come near to enter Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, “See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look at.Genesis 12:12It will happen, when the Egyptians will see you, that they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ They will kill me, but they will save you alive.Genesis 12:13Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you.”Genesis 12:14It happened that when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.Genesis 12:15The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.Genesis 12:16He dealt well with Abram for her sake. He had sheep, cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.Genesis 12:17Yahweh plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.Genesis 12:18Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this that you have done to me? Why didn’t you tell me that she was your wife?Genesis 12:19Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now he lived by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner; and these were allies of Abram.Genesis 14:14When Abram heard that his relative was taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued as far as Dan.Genesis 14:15He divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and struck them, and pursued them to Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.Genesis 14:16He brought back all the goods, and also brought back his relative, Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.Genesis 14:17The king of Sodom went out to meet him, after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, at the valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).Genesis 14:18Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High.Genesis 14:19He blessed him, and said, “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth:Genesis 14:20and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave him a tenth of all.Genesis 14:21The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people, and take the goods to yourself.”Genesis 14:22Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted up my hand to Yahweh, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth,Genesis 14:23that I will not take a thread nor a sandal strap nor anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’Genesis 14:24I will accept nothing from you except that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion.”Genesis 15:6He believed in Yahweh; and he reckoned it to him for righteousness.Genesis 15:7He said to him, “I am Yahweh who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give you this land to inherit it.”Genesis 15:8He said, “Lord Yahweh, how will I know that I will inherit it?”Genesis 15:9He said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”Genesis 15:10He brought him all of these, and divided them in the middle, and laid each half opposite the other; but he didn’t divide the birds.Genesis 15:11The birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.Genesis 15:12When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. Now terror and great darkness fell on him.Genesis 15:13He said to Abram, “Know for sure that your seed will live as foreigners in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them. They will afflict them four hundred years.Genesis 15:14I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve. Afterward they will come out with great wealth,Genesis 15:15but you will go to your fathers in peace. You will be buried in a good old age.Genesis 15:16In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full.”Genesis 15:17It came to pass that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold, a smoking furnace, and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.Genesis 15:18In that day Yahweh made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:
