Numbers 27:6and the LORD answered him,Numbers 27:7“The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.Numbers 27:8Furthermore, you shall say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, you are to transfer his inheritance to his daughter.Numbers 27:9If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers.Numbers 27:10If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.Numbers 27:11And if his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the next of kin from his clan, that he may take possession of it. This is to be a statutory ordinance for the Israelites, as the LORD has commanded Moses.’”Numbers 36:1Now the family heads of the clan of Gilead son of Machir son of Manasseh, one of the clans of Joseph, approached Moses and the leaders who were the heads of the Israelite families and addressed them,Numbers 36:2saying, “When the LORD commanded my lord to give the land as an inheritance to the Israelites by lot, He also commanded him to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.Numbers 36:3But if they marry any of the men from the other tribes of Israel, their inheritance will be withdrawn from the portion of our fathers and added to the tribe into which they marry. So our allotted inheritance would be taken away.Numbers 36:4And when the Jubilee for the Israelites comes, their inheritance will be added to the tribe into which they marry and taken away from the tribe of our fathers.”Numbers 36:5So at the word of the LORD, Moses commanded the Israelites: “The tribe of the sons of Joseph speaks correctly.Numbers 36:6This is what the LORD has commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad: They may marry anyone they please, provided they marry within a clan of the tribe of their father.Numbers 36:7No inheritance in Israel may be transferred from tribe to tribe, because each of the Israelites is to retain the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.Numbers 36:8Every daughter who possesses an inheritance from any Israelite tribe must marry within a clan of the tribe of her father, so that every Israelite will possess the inheritance of his fathers.Numbers 36:9No inheritance may be transferred from one tribe to another, for each tribe of Israel must retain its inheritance.”Numbers 36:10So the daughters of Zelophehad did as the LORD had commanded Moses.Numbers 36:11Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to cousins on their father’s side.Ruth 4:3And he said to the kinsman-redeemer, “Naomi, who has returned from the land of Moab, is selling the piece of land that belonged to our brother Elimelech.Ruth 4:4I thought I should inform you that you may buy it back in the presence of those seated here and in the presence of the elders of my people. Take my right of redemption, because I cannot redeem it.”Ruth 4:7Now in former times in Israel, concerning the redemption or exchange of property, to make any matter legally binding a man would remove his sandal and give it to the other party, and this was a confirmation in Israel.Ruth 4:8So the kinsman-redeemer removed his sandal and said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself.”Ruth 4:9At this, Boaz said to the elders and all the people, “You are witnesses today that I am buying from Naomi all that belonged to Elimelech, Chilion, and Mahlon.Ruth 4:10Moreover, I have acquired Ruth the Moabitess, Mahlon’s widow, as my wife, to raise up the name of the deceased through his inheritance, so that his name will not disappear from among his brothers or from the gate of his home. You are witnesses today.”Ruth 4:11“We are witnesses,” said the elders and all the people at the gate. “May the LORD make the woman entering your home like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. Buy it for yourself.’” Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.Jeremiah 32:9So I bought the field in Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel, and I weighed out seventeen shekels of silver.Jeremiah 32:10I signed and sealed the deed, called in witnesses, and weighed out the silver on the scales.Jeremiah 32:11Then I took the deed of purchase—the sealed copy with its terms and conditions, as well as the open copy—Jeremiah 32:12and I gave this deed to Baruch son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the sight of my cousin Hanamel and the witnesses who were signing the purchase agreement and all the Jews sitting in the courtyard of the guard.Jeremiah 32:13In their sight I instructed Baruch,Jeremiah 32:14“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Take these deeds—both the sealed copy and the open copy of the deed of purchase—and put them in a clay jar to preserve them for a long time.Jeremiah 32:15For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Houses, fields, and vineyards will again be bought in this land.”Jeremiah 32:16After I had given the deed of purchase to Baruch son of Neriah, I prayed to the LORD:Jeremiah 32:25Yet You, O Lord GOD, have said to me, ‘Buy for yourself the field with silver and call in witnesses, even though the city has been delivered into the hands of the Chaldeans!’”Jeremiah 32:44Fields will be purchased with silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed, and witnessed in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah—the cities of the hill country, the foothills, and the Negev—because I will restore them from captivity, declares the LORD.”Micah 2:1Woe to those who devise iniquity and plot evil on their beds! Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance.’Matthew 21:39So they seized him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.Matthew 21:40Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard returns, what will he do to those tenants?”Matthew 21:41“He will bring those wretches to a wretched end,” they replied, “and will rent out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his share of the fruit at harvest time.”
