For we have heard the reports about Him: all that He did in Egypt,Joshua 9:10and all that He did to the two kings of the Amorites beyond the Jordan—Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth.Joshua 9:11So the elders and inhabitants of our land told us, ‘Take provisions for your journey; go to meet them and say to them: We are your servants. Please make a treaty with us.’Joshua 9:12This bread of ours was warm when we packed it at home on the day we left to come to you. But look, it is now dry and moldy.Joshua 9:13These wineskins were new when we filled them, but look, they are cracked. And these clothes and sandals are worn out from our very long journey.”Joshua 9:14Then the men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not seek the counsel of the LORD.Joshua 9:15And Joshua made a treaty of peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the congregation swore an oath to them.Joshua 9:16Three days after they had made the treaty with the Gibeonites, the Israelites learned that they were neighbors, living among them.Joshua 9:17So the Israelites set out and on the third day arrived at their cities—Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath-jearim.Joshua 9:18But the Israelites did not attack them, because the leaders of the congregation had sworn an oath to them by the LORD, the God of Israel. And the whole congregation grumbled against the leaders.Joshua 9:19All the leaders answered, “We have sworn an oath to them by the LORD, the God of Israel, and now we cannot touch them.Joshua 9:20This is how we will treat them: We will let them live, so that no wrath will fall on us because of the oath we swore to them.”Joshua 9:21They continued, “Let them live, but let them be woodcutters and water carriers for the whole congregation.” So the leaders kept their promise.1 Kings 5:1Now when Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been anointed king in his father’s place, he sent envoys to Solomon; for Hiram had always been a friend of David.1 Kings 5:2And Solomon relayed this message to Hiram:1 Kings 5:3“As you are well aware, due to the wars waged on all sides against my father David, he could not build a house for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD had put his enemies under his feet.1 Kings 5:4But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or crisis.1 Kings 5:5So behold, I plan to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God, according to what the LORD said to my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the house for My Name.’1 Kings 5:6Now therefore, order that cedars of Lebanon be cut down for me. My servants will be with your servants, and I will pay your servants whatever wages you set, for you know that there are none among us as skilled in logging as the Sidonians.”1 Kings 5:7When Hiram received Solomon’s message, he rejoiced greatly and said, “Blessed be the LORD this day! He has given David a wise son over this great people!”1 Kings 5:8Then Hiram sent a reply to Solomon, saying: “I have received your message; I will do all you desire regarding the cedar and cypress timber.1 Kings 5:9My servants will haul the logs from Lebanon to the Sea, and I will float them as rafts by sea to the place you specify. There I will separate the logs, and you can take them away. And in exchange, you can meet my needs by providing my household with food.”1 Kings 5:10So Hiram provided Solomon with all the cedar and cypress timber he wanted,1 Kings 5:11and year after year Solomon would provide Hiram with 20,000 cors of wheat as food for his household, as well as 20,000 baths of pure olive oil.1 Kings 5:12And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.1 Kings 9:10Now at the end of the twenty years during which Solomon built these two houses, the house of the LORD and the royal palace,1 Kings 9:11King Solomon gave twenty towns in the land of Galilee to Hiram king of Tyre, who had supplied him with cedar and cypress logs and gold for his every desire.1 Kings 9:12So Hiram went out from Tyre to inspect the towns that Solomon had given him, but he was not pleased with them.1 Kings 9:13“What are these towns you have given me, my brother?” asked Hiram, and he called them the Land of Cabul, as they are called to this day.1 Kings 9:14And Hiram had sent the king 120 talents of gold.1 Kings 15:19“Let there be a treaty between me and you as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”1 Kings 20:34Ben-hadad said to him, “I will restore the cities my father took from your father; you may set up your own marketplaces in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria.” “By this treaty I release you,” Ahab replied.
