Exodus 24:3When Moses came and told the people all the words and ordinances of the LORD, they all responded with one voice: “All the words that the LORD has spoken, we will do.”Exodus 24:4And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. Early the next morning he got up and built an altar at the base of the mountain, along with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.Exodus 24:5Then he sent out some young men of Israel, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as peace offerings to the LORD.1 Kings 12:6Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon during his lifetime. “How do you advise me to respond to these people?” he asked.1 Kings 12:7They replied, “If you will be a servant to these people and serve them this day, and if you will respond by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants forever.”1 Kings 12:8But Rehoboam rejected the advice of the elders; instead, he consulted the young men who had grown up with him and served him.1 Kings 12:9He asked them, “What message do you advise that we send back to these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Lighten the yoke your father put on us’?”1 Kings 12:10The young men who had grown up with him replied, “This is how you should answer these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you must make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist!1 Kings 12:11Whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. Whereas my father scourged you with whips, I will scourge you with scorpions.’”1 Kings 12:12After three days, Jeroboam and all the people returned to Rehoboam, since the king had said, “Come back to me on the third day.”1 Kings 12:13And the king answered the people harshly. He rejected the advice of the elders1 Kings 12:14and spoke to them as the young men had advised, saying, “Whereas my father made your yoke heavy, I will add to your yoke. How long will scoffers delight in their scorn and fools hate knowledge?Proverbs 1:23If you had repented at my rebuke, then surely I would have poured out my spirit on you; I would have made my words known to you.Proverbs 1:24Because you refused my call, and no one took my outstretched hand,Proverbs 1:25because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my correction,Proverbs 1:26in turn I will mock your calamity; I will sneer when terror strikes you,Proverbs 1:27when your dread comes like a storm, and your destruction like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish overwhelm you.Proverbs 1:28Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will earnestly seek me, but will not find me.Proverbs 1:29For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD.Proverbs 1:30They accepted none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof.Proverbs 1:31So they will eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.Proverbs 1:32For the waywardness of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.Proverbs 1:33But whoever listens to me will dwell in safety, secure from the fear of evil.”Proverbs 2:1My son, if you accept my words and hide my commandments within you,Proverbs 2:2if you incline your ear to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding,Proverbs 2:3if you truly call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding,Proverbs 2:4if you seek it like silver and search it out like hidden treasure,Proverbs 2:5then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.Proverbs 2:6For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.Proverbs 2:7He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk with integrity,Proverbs 2:8to guard the paths of justice and protect the way of His saints.Proverbs 2:9Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity—every good path.Proverbs 2:10For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight your soul.
